I noticed that Utd have been after Paul Mitchell as sporting director for a while. Sky are saying they are now looking to bring someone in To fulfil this role before appointing a new manager, so will be interesting to see who it is.

I do hope Poch closes this down properly in his press conference or The media won’t stop until his appointed. I would go as far as offering him a new contract as that is what it’s going to take to shut them all up.

But they do have the option of Zidane which actually might be more attractive to them considering what he has won. Really hope they go all in on him and stay away from our Poch.

Fuck worrying about them going for Poch, we should be on the front foot trying to pick up the likes of Martial. Want to play for Poch? You know where he is.

I can only see Poch leaving for a "bigger club" when(if) he wins trophy's with us. He would need to arrive with more than just 'potential" as his main talent. Of course, the pressure would be on him immediately and a sacking from UTD won't do you any favours, its career threatening. Levy gives him a much easier way he just needs backing with transfers. In an odd way I think he likes the challenge at Spurs and the free rein levy gives him.

No surprise to see The Poch thread at the top of the list today.

As a Spurs fan I only can cling to my hope that Mauricio Pochettino is happy where he is, wants to continue his legacy into the new stadium and sees a future at Spurs winning the league.

However in truth he is probably the best club coach around these days and whilst I don't believe his own salary is something that would draw him to the Man Utd job, the more realistic prospect of winning the league over there may be the main driver if he were to leave.

Worried.

Unfortunately I think this might be too big an opportunity to turn down.

I think it's naive to think he wouldn't at least consider it. He seemed happy as Larry at Southampton and was swayed by us seemingly easy enough. The gulf in stature between us and United is just as big as us and Soton, so I wouldn't be shocked if he was up for it.

I do think he'll wanna stick around to usher in the new stadium etc, though. Had we not had the stadium stuff going on, I'd have far less confidence.

I'm pretty calm about this. For a start Utd are appointing a caretaker until the summer, so Poch is not in any danger of leaving now.

Secondly, big as the Man Utd job is, I think Poch has unfinished business here, and the new stadium being on the horizon has freshened things up.

He is already in arguably one of the top 10 jobs in Europe, and has a level of security and influence he simply wouldn't have in any other top position. He has the chance to build a real legacy here, and not be simply be another in Fergie's shadow. He knows Spurs inside out, built the foundations and now hopefully will see it through to fruition. I imagine £8m a year is already more money than he ever considered making in management too.

Go to Utd, succumb to the poison chalice and you're back to square one. It's a risk Poch will be well aware of.

Mourinho said Utd are no longer so superior to us that they can poach our best players, I'm hopeful that extends to the manager too. That said Levy has to deliver in the next couple of transfer windows to keep things smooth.

Utd are always dangerous, as they can throw a ton of money around, including at Poch's staff, but I have a feeling Poch is along for the ride for a while yet...

I believe Pochettino isn't THAT extremely happy and his sense of duty might have changed slightly over the last few months, but I'd be shocked if he chose to go to ManUtd. They have a terrible squad.

I don't think he was happy at Soton, tbf. IIRC, he was publicly pretty pissed off that Cortese and had been sacked/allowed to leave.

Why would he want to join utd ? They are slowly becoming a past time . The pressure to get results at a club like utd could see him out the door . He had time at us but at utd he won’t have that luxury

Soton was a bit different though. He was friends with the dof who got him the job then was sacked. The owner then started asset stripping the club.

He didn't seem happy after the transfer window, understandably so, but he's seemed very chipper recently. Let's not forget how effusive he was in his praise for Levy after we made the CL last-16.

Think Poch has to indicate that his future is definitely here, will need to reiterate it and be clear about it otherwise the constant speculation could derail our season.

If he says nothing much then the speculation will get wild.

He'll have to think very carefully about what he says in the next few days.

Just hope the new stadium is enough to keep him, if we wernt on the brink of delivering that it would all be inevitable.

At the levels of money these players and to a lesser extent coaches earn nowadays, i really don't think how rich a club is is much of a factor.

And as i said above as a Spanish speaker the top teams in the world will be Barca and Real, and they would not care a jot about ££££'s
I disagree. No one is being paid £400k a week at Huddersfield or Fulham and nor could they afford Mourinho, Klopp or Guardiola. Spanish speakers may well love La Liga but it's not just about Spanish speakers is it? There's a very good argument that United is a bigger club than Madrid and it's not bankrolled by a country either.

He's been saying he's happy for months.
