Some of you lot love a good meltdown. If you look at the history of this thread it's speculation followed by meltdown followed by Poch coming out and saying he's going no where. Do we really need to go through the whole process again to shut some of you the fuck up?

Kind Sir please forgive us for caring about our lovely club and for appreciating our best manager in the PL Era. :cautious:

This has been written since Poch broke bread with Fergie. Don't fight it and it won't hurt as much.

You could well be right and it would make sense but I think (hope!) Poch is a very loyal man with extremely solid morals. I think he will at the very least see out the new contract that he signed recently

As others have said hopefully he can put a little pressure on DL re incomings too but that may be wishful thinking as well...

I'm a cynical and jaded old git beyond my years unfortunately, and I'm willing to bet old Levy is already enjoying a nice glass of wine while he dreamily thinks about how much compensation he's going to ask Ed Woodward for...

Oh and I've had a cheeky tenner on Steve Bruce at 50/1 to take over until the end of the season based on fuck-all other than the urge to lose a tenner.

It's an interesting situation:

Poch now has leverage to tease Levy into making squad commitments in the window.

Though, it would also be in Poch's favour - if he wants to stay - to shut down any speculation asap and say he's not going anywhere.

Otherwise, this could be seriously detrimental to squad mentality/performance (lurking there beneath the surface).

Anyway, Manure's now a toxic shithole.

We're the future.

Stay, Poch, and make me belly happy.

"Big opportunities" come round once in a lifetime. That's when you have to think very seriously about turning something down. Because you'll never get another chance.

But the 'opportunity' to manage United (or Madrid) comes round every 2-3 years. They're big clubs, sure, but having a crack at managing them is NOT an opportunity too big to turn down, even assuming you actually want that kind of madhouse job in the first place. Turn down United 2019. Opportunity will knock again in 2022. Or before.

Pundits, journos and most fans think money is everything. And prestige is everything. It's as if we must all aspire to the same 'dream' job. The world is one big Christmas tree and managing United is the big star on top of the tree. But life isn't like that. People are attracted by different jobs, different careers, for different reasons and their own personal motivations. We can't all manage Man United. And nor could Man United attract every one of us. It's the same with players. Ledley King, even Mark Noble, could have moved to "bigger clubs". They didn't. Because what they want and value isn't the same as what Phil Jones or Fred wanted.

If Poch was unemployed, sure, he'd (maybe) be interested. But swap (very) Old Trafford for (very) new WHL ? Kane and Dele and our kids and Levy, for Sanchez and Pogba and infighting, Ed Woodward and the Glazers? EVEN more importantly, Poch has turned loyalty into his personal crusade. He believes in it. He expects every player to uphold it. He could never do that again if he walks away from a 5 year Contract. He's not another Carrick, Berbatov, Modric or Bale. This is very different.

For all your negative reasons for going to United and positives for staying at Tottenham, you can just as easily swap it round, which the media will do.

Old Trafford might be old and dated, but it's currently 75k and not unreasonable to think it'll get expanded to 90k in the not too distant future. It's also one of the most famous stadiums in the world, home to one of the most famous clubs in the world. Don't pretend we're at that level.

Sanchez was one of the best players in the PL for years. He's not crap. Mourinho is.
Pogba has been average but is a prime age and has prime physical attributes for Poch, a superb coach, to get the best out of him.

Ed Woodward and the glazers bought pretty much anyone Mourinho wanted without question until this summer.
Levy will only give Poch money he makes in the transfer market, which at the moment will be pennies as we don't want to sell anyone.

Perhaps Poch signed a new contract because Real didn't interest him and the United job didn't exist. He's not going to turn down a few million quid a year extra if it's put on the table by Spurs.

I'm not convinced he'll leave. However I'm certainly not convinced he'll stay either. Not backed in January when we are in a great position but suffering horrendous injuries? What if he still doesn't get any backing come next summer? Eriksen gets sold as he has 1 year left? Toby goes for £25m?
We could avoid both players going if Levy saw the bigger picture and showed a little ambition.
I don't buy into the concept we can't afford to upgrade anyone.
Wanyama and Dembele are permanently injured. A pot plant would be an upgrade.
Dier is over rated.
Davies has gone a bit backwards but Rose is struggling with fitness.
Trippier has let people down, Aurrier is often unconvincing.

We're doing well but we're not top of anything.

Don’t buy all this leverage for January stuff. For a start, almost all the best players ( and most likely Poch targets) will not be available. So then he’s just left with promises.... and we all know what a Levy promise/gentlemen’s agreement is worth?

I honestly believe that Poch understands our financial restrictions and won't play any mind games with DL, thay are on the same page.

They really do have a mutual respect for each other and won't use all this speculation to squeeze funds out of DL.

If Poch wants a player, and its not silly money, i believe DL will get him, but Poch is doing a Wenger and treating our money like his. IMO.

Which points to him being here for the long haul and not just spunking our money.

She also thinks we're a 'proper bottle jobe' though so she would probably love to see Poch at Utd.

Her opinions on football are about as relevant as mine are on quadratic equations.

Think your correct I don't buy into this theory regarding leverage either we buy players or we don't just like the summer when we didn't probably because we couldn't afford to.

I think it's down to Levy whether he stays or goes. Poch is ambitious and wants to win things and to do so, investing in the team and infrastructure is required. We are ahead in the latter with training ground, stadium etc but not former.

Also, we predominantly have young, hungry players who are willing to learn which he has moulded, whereas some of theirs do seem like prima donnas who down tools if they don't like what they hear, similar to when he started with us. Would he want to start again and would Utd ?

I'm hoping he sees this and realises he is actually closer to achieving things with us. He just needs to be backed in the transfer market. Liverpool are only 6 points ahead but spent £150m over the summer plus £75m on VVD in Jan. If we had invested half of that, then the gap would be smaller or we'd be ahead.

Levy is not dumb and must realise a bit of investment is needed and will back Poch who in turn will realise that he will fulfill his dreams quicker with us. That's what I hope anyway. We wouldn't be anywhere without Poch and it's only in the past few years when I've actually felt that we are one of the big boys albeit with a smaller wallet.

I think we need to start the openthewalletLevyforPoch# movement!
