I genuinely feel no concern whatsoever. Do people really think that after no signings in the summer and months of stadium delays, Daniel Levy would really allow Poch to leave? To strengthen a rival, of all clubs? The fans are already frustrated, it would be suicidal.

If anything, this just gives Poch leverage when it comes to January and summer signings. "Keep me happy."

One thing I haven't seen discussed much in recent posts in this thread is the contractual status of Eriksen and Alderweireld. That's something you have to think Pochettino would weigh to some degree in any future projection of the squad meeting his objectives versus what he would have at United.

To me, Eriksen has been the player of the decade thus far at Spurs, and he is the maestro that has made this team tick under Poch. Assuming Pochettino is at least marginally interested in the United job, I can't imagine it wouldn't weigh somewhat on the manager's mind if he were forced to replace two world class players (plus others like Dembele) in a tight summer transfer window, while entrusting that Levy will get the sales done in a timely fashion and back him on who he wants for replacements.

Whatever happens, I have nothing but admiration and respect for Pochettino. He's done so much for the club and deserves to be competing at the top of the table for trophies across all fronts.

Despite what your saying can any of us really see levy allowing poch 2/3 signings in January I can't see it happening.

Why would Poch rule himself out the job when it's he leverage to put pressure on Levy to take risks in backing him. He will be able to suggest that the risk of backing him is far less a risk than losing him. Even if he 100% wants to stay he would be fucking stupid to come out and say it, he would lose leverage.

Exactly. It’s what helped him get a fat new contract in the summer when Madrid came calling.

Worth remembering that Manchester United will be pushing stories about this. I do always get the impression that Poch makes capital of these situations to push his agenda within the club and I am sure he'll d it again this time. For the record I honestly don't believe he is leaving next summer because he hasn't finished his business at Spurs yet .

And especially to Man Utd. He hates them almost as much as he hates Chelsea!

I honestly hate Manchester United. They always flex their muscles trying to do this to us and try unsettling the club the Manc fucks!!! From Carrick, Berbatov, Rose, Toby Alderweireld to now Pochettino. Honestly fuck them!!!! We should not be entertaining anything and should make it clear from the get go that Pochettino is not attainable and hasn’t finished his work yet at Spurs. We should be doing everything in our power to show Pochettino he is so important here. Honestly if these Manc ****s ruin what Spurs have built up ?

This article, which I must say is a very balanced and well-written view of the saga, sums up the situation perfectly:

"Being coy is also in his interests. What his reaction is likely to be to a direct approach is hard to know, but – like anyone in his position – he will likely spy an opportunity to create leverage. Any time a major club has a vacancy, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has reason to be nervous. In this instance, that anxiety can be used by Pochettino to dictate discussions about the club’s future direction. He and Levy are close, they enjoy an extremely productive working relationship, but football is business and Pochettino will understand that, quite unlike last summer, Spurs will need to capitalise on recent progress with further strengthening of their squad.

Levy should understand that, too. He will also appreciate the extent to which his club’s current standing depends on the Argentine and what the effects of his departure are likely to be. With the positive symbolism of the new stadium and the momentum it promises to generate, if Levy were to allow Pochettino to slip away now, his own position at the club would become extremely difficult. Rightly so, too, because it would be easy enough to trace that departure back to June and July of 2018, and the frustration felt over the failure to achieve anything of note in pre-season.

So don’t expect any denials or clarifications soon. At the same time, the lack thereof shouldn’t necessarily be treated as a warning light. Part of a head-coach’s job, particularly in the absence of a sporting director, is to exert this sort of pressure on his employer and make the very best of a strong negotiating position. If he wants transfer funds to spend, he must secure them himself. Today’s executives are business orientated and they generally only loosen their club’s purse strings after losing a PR war. That needn’t become acrimonious, but that slightly antagonistic relationship is becoming a staple of elite club life.

If Pochettino is to stay in London, Levy must give him a reason to."

Very interesting that he would say those things. Is it some kind of mindfuckery going on or a friendly tip that the biggest jobs aren't all that rosy as some would suggest?
It mentions him and Poch are friends, so maybe its just honest, sensible advice.
Won't go down well with Woolwich fans either which is nice....they'd love Poch to leave us for Utd.

Exactly my thought. As he is now a gooner it would be in their club's best interest to fuel the flames. Those quotes are the opposite, unless I'm missing something.

It might be good for everyone to be looking at us. All publicity is good publicity. At the moment we will have utd and real fans all keeping an eye on how we do. Wouldn't be suprised if we get a lot more twitter followers etc...
I was thinking that as well.
Any news is good news.
