We lost a game 2-1 and it could have been 2-2 ... No one is going to remember this game - bar you and some scouscers probably - come february.

You think by trying to tell me it was more one sided than the result suggests (in your ever so humble opinion) changes the fact it was almost a draw and (imho) wasn't as bad as people make out ...

We could be here all day.

Tell you what, go to Rawk, they'll love you.

I was there that day, we were fucking abysmal and Liverpool could have won that 4 - 1. We only threatened in injury time when they took their foot off the gas. It was as bad as people make out, we were gash mate.

I do not expect us to spend anything in January, and with Dier, Dembele, Wanyama and Vertonghen all expected to return, and Rose already rehabilitated, we do not need anything in January that we cannot wait until the summer for.

The issue is can Dembele and Wanyama be relied on? I’m not sure. We need squad players that can step in when first teamers are injured (or for rotation purposes) but if they themselves are often injured or lacking fitness that presents a problem.

Mate don't do it to yourself the club will not spend in January as it couldn't spend during the summer, and as for levy spending 100m on a CM like when would that happen shave 70-75m of that figure and you might be closer to the mark but seriously if you set the expectation level low that way it at least can be matched rather than be left dissapointed.(y)

Re-read my post again, especially the first sentence. I do not expect us to sign anyone in January.

Yeah but the City game was very different. Even Pep acknowledged how well we played second half.

To suggest they battered us is complete bollox (not you mate!)... It was a pretty close affair actually.

I'm sorry you had to be there for it.

I watched it myself. We were good for periods but Liverpool created the better chances. It'd have been a lucky 2-2 for sure. That's the way football goes I suppose. As you say, Liverpool could have scored more if they had taken their chances, bit like Bournemouth, sadly for them both they didn't.

Amazing how football plays out on a pitch.

That's a very kind analysis of the game...I can't think for a second that it is your genuine view.

"A bit like bournemouth"

Not really...Liverpool dominated the game from start to finish and deserved to win by a very wide margin.

I watched the match, I never said we were great, we had our own periods though. It finished 2-1. The right team won, not sure what else you want from me? The Bournemouth remark was about finishing, both Liverpool and Bournemouth had gilt edge chances to score goals and didn't take them ... Never suggested Bournemouth dominated anything, just purely chances created.

Some of you are like a dog with a bone, and as far as being a WUM - some of you should have a look in a mirror.

For sure. The city game was very different and that rankles me more than the Liverpool one. Although not by much. City barely turned up on the day and won by virtue of us letting them. Trippier handed them a goal and then we proceeded to miss gilt edged chances. City did not have to work for that win at all. Sickening.

We actually had the game under control for parts but just kept on giving the ball away in stupid areas. Even worse than in the wolves game. We were seriously rubbish. It would have been hilarious had we got a point and I suspect if we had then Liverpool might not be in the position they are currently in. They’ve taken a massive confidence boost in beating us then not losing the Man City and Chelsea (it’s why I wanted them to lose those games and was one of the only ones).

But anyway, it’s ages ago now and we were poor. It doesn’t change my perception though that we could get something in the return fixture.

We're capable of turning Liverpool over at Anfield.

But it's only a possibility if we're focused and don't gift them a stupid early goal.

Not sure if it's already been posted and in the hopes of bringning the thread back on track, here's a good read i saw on Reddit.

https://www.tifofootball.com/featur...heir-own-culture-to-keep-mauricio-pochettino/

'Mainly because Manchester United don’t offer the same proposition. Much to their supporters’ chagrin, they are now less a football club and more a content provider....'

Great article but as the writer concedes maybe, despite it all, money will win out. Let's hope not.

Happy New Year all x

On our day we can beat anyone but on our day has been rare this season, we’ve had quite a few fortunate wins if we’re honest, it’s why we have no draws, I guessing about 5 of our wins this season the team deserved at least a point. Our best start to a season since when but our football was much better the previous few years, we were a little unfortunate then to not win anything.

Id agree up until Chelsea at the end of November, since then we've been fantastic, Saturday aside.

We've got stronger and stronger, clearly the world cup played a part in September/October.

We have been playing better but still not as good as we have been, I know injuries played a part too but our defense largely has been awful, we always look like conceding, and haven’t taken a game by the scruff of the neck as often as i’d like.
