Max Meyer rejects contract extension at Schalke

News has emerged that Max Meyer has rejected a contract extension with Schalke, with his current deal expiring in June 2018.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur shown their interest in the 21-year-old German, who may depart this summer for a fee, or leave Schalke next summer on a free transfer.

Although this is the latest of the current situation, Meyer told reporters last month there is a 50/50 chance of signing an extension.

Bild also reported in March that Schalke may be willing to sell Meyer if they receive an offer of around €20 million.

Watched the England U21 game vs Germany and Arnold indeed caught the eye. Winks was best of a bad bunch for England. But Arnold looked good. Philip came on toward the end but wasn't up to much. Meyer has had an indifferent season at Schalke and did seem Weinzierl's favorite. The moved Goretzka further up this year lessening Meyer's role in the team. This was made possible by Bentaleb's presence further back.
