I’m not against him, but I’d still prefer us to grab another player like Son rather than another player like Kane.

Jesus, the return of the Jackie Collins player name thread.

Maxi Gomez, lover of women, international polo star and backgammon master, revved the engine of his Porsche 911 and outshone the morning sun that revealed a smooth olive skinned jawline envied by sizzling gypsys and cynical supermodels alike

Not sure he fits the type of forward we’ve been looking at in recent times, Son’esque fits our needs, this guy isn’t that type. More Mitrovic with less ego I think.

We’ve bought Janssen and Llorente, so seems like he’d be right down what we’ve been buying.

We’re not after ‘back-ups’, we need players good enough to slot into the 1st team whether there be 11 or 20 of them. At the moment we barely have 11 as it is, the alternatives are simply not good enough.

Kane cannot play every game whether it be due to fitness, form?, injuries etc... we need someone who can step in and contribute on a regular basis. Yes Son and Moura can play there but given our current lack of cover right throughout the squad we’re having to adjust our line up, formation and tactics week in week out to the detriment of the team. We need either like for like as close as possible to like for like.

Gomez is a different player to Kane but he’s full of energy, very strong for his size and knows where the goal is... obviously not on the same level at the moment but he’s similar in style to Aguero.

100% agree. If we are spending big money on another attacker, I want it to be one that can theoretically start alongside Kane as well as just be a back up. Ideally one with the pace to play wide (Pepe/Zaha type). I always thought a veteran like Llorente made a lot of sense as the backup target man should we need one in the squad, which is a niche role really behind Kane.

Would y’all rather Gomez for 30 or Zaha for 50?

Gomez.

The other major factor is Gomez’ wages would likely be far lower as well. Zaha already has a massive contract and I doubt he’s interested in taking a pay cut.

Never even seen Gomez play, but Gomez because, unlike Zaha, he's probably not a dick.

Zaha has been flirted with in the past, and Poch has made it known that he absolutely rates the guy as a player. Yet he's signed 2 contract extensions in the last 19 months, took multiple pay-rises and despite signing his most recent contract just 9 months ago, is now (once again) saying he wants to play for a CL club.

He's either thick as shit, bipolar or driven solely by money.

Anyway, yeah, I'd prefer the guy I've never seen play.

Zaha is on another level to Gomez he is by far the best player outside the top 6. The problem is Zaha's valuation and yes I would pay up to 50 M for Zaha guaranteed mayhem

Why is everyone on this forum so desperate for a pacey wide forward? I'd say with Son and Lucas, we've got two excellent options in that area.

What we could really do with is someone like Llorente, but five years younger, who can offer a different tactical option when we need it.

Agree, ideally he can be a target man but much better with the ball at his feet than Llorente

I think the main concern needs to be someone more physically fit than Llorente, who can play full games, and who can take part in the pressing game as well as the attack.
