It is easy to misunderstand Marcus Edwards. Spend some time with him and yes, you can see why people have found him hard to get through to. Why he might already have a reputation, at the age of 20, as a difficult, disengaged character. This is his first interview with a British newspaper and frankly it does not come easily to him.

Interesting interview, hope he's genuine in knowing what he needs to do and I hope he shows that to Pochettino in pre-season. He's that good that he could force himself into contention for a place in the 1st team but he has to show up early for training and be leaving late.

He could be a real bonus for us in the upcoming season, that being said, I suspect he will go out on loan again and he will need to prove himself again. I'd really like him to prove me wrong and have such a good pre-season Poch sees him ready to train with the 1st team

Just from watching video's on youtube of his time in Holland, I think he needs a lot of coaching on the football side of things.
He's very quick and very skillful, but all I'm seeing is poor and wayward shots from positions that don't warrant shooting.
There's an element of Andros Townsend there. Exciting to watch, unquestionably. But a lack of awareness and football intelligence.

I think he will get a chance in pre-season to show his attitude. I this is as Poch wants then I am sure he has the talent to be coached by Poch and his team. It would be so brilliant to have another young player make it into the first team

Think it was mentioned in the Youth Thread that he recently signed with a new management agency. I imagine this is part of an operation to clean up his image ahead of a transfer this summer.

A big summer ahead for the young man.

A big decision to be made by the club.

With the path that the club looks likes it's taking, it's now or never for the young man.

I hope he takes the opportunity but I'm not sure if he's good enough.

If he goes out on loan again this season, I'd expect that to be coupled with a new year contract to both protect his value and allow him a bit more time.

I suspect he will be sold this season though before he's allowed to leave at the end of his contract.

If he's not signing a new contract, then he will be sold. No chance we're loaning him with an expiring contract.

Fascinating piece. Am wondering how it came about. The Edwards camp looking to make a good impression on Pochettino, possibly?
It almost certainly came about from Edwards' agent and a desire to rehabilitate his client's reputation with a view to a move. The key quote is where is says he just wants to play first-team football, whenever that takes him. Says nothing whatsoever about him hoping for a chance with us.
