And are we really ripping him for tax dodging? Which one of us hasn't done something to try to dodge taxes before? Or at least would if we knew we could get away with it?

If i could get away with it i'd rob a bank. Doesn't make it right.

Do you think he has the first clue about what taxes he owes and how much he pays?

I know ignorance is no defence in law, and rightly so, but to believe he's deliberately working a technical scam to reduce his tax liability deserves the biggest "optimistic" rep of all time.

The most salient point re Messi and tax dodging is that he probably had very little direct involvement with it. Unless we're willing to credit him with the expertise and intelligence required to personally exploit tax loop holes Spain's financial system of course.

What makes Ronaldo a ****? The millions he donates to charity every year? The way he literally always gives young fans time whenever they pitch invade/whatever (whereas Messi ignores them like a prick) or the fact that he pays his taxes?

Yeah, he's arrogant on the pitch - but all the evidence I've seen suggests Messi is more of a prick off of it.

Ronaldo isn't just arrogant on the pitch, he's an arrogant human being. The recent leak of Bale's contract which proved that Madrid deemed it necessary to cover up the true sum of the transfer fee tells you all you need to know about the size of his ego.

You can donate blood if you have tattoo's @barry , you have to leave it 3 months I think after you've been tattoo'd just in case of infection but after that short quarantine period you can give blood.

Live and learn brother, I'm fairly heavily covered (full back, half sleeve, and pec, and very soon ribs) and someone told me I couldn't give blood. Teaches me to listen to hear say rather than looking it up myself.

You can donate now like me & join the feel good brigade (I've got loads of ink too)

Messi forcing players like Ibra, Eto'o and Henry out of position and eventually the club doesn't showcase his arrogance I suppose. At the end of the day, they're both arrogant, but this myth that Ronaldo is a **** I think is unfair.

I don't know if that's true about Henry and Eto'o, maybe it is, but I think there's a difference between arrogance and wanting to play in your preferred position. How you go about communicating that determines whether or not it constiutes 'arrogance' I suppose.

I don't imagine Messi's a saint but let's not go overboard and equate him with Ronaldo in terms of ego on the basis of one or two rumoured indiscretions. Ronaldo's arrogance is there for everyone to see, and clearly permeates and poisons the entire style of Madrid. He's one of the greatest players of all time playing for the biggest club who spend the most money on the best players and he's won, what, one league title and one CL in seven years?

Maybe they both do a lot for charity, and although they don't have to I think anyone with that sort of money should do, and maybe all the fame has gone to both of their heads in certain ways, are we surprised really? They are known around the world and idolised

How is that 'arrogance"? Any sensible manager would start by putting Messi in his preferred position then try to accommodate the other talented players around him.

So no, it doesn't showcase his arrogance.

Because he was allegedly demanding the manager play him in that position. Players shouldn't dictate where they play. Very simple stuff.

He got knocked, he could have bought a new one for less.

As for all the charity shit. Charitable donations are tax right offs. And do you seriously think that footballers wake up in the morning and decide to visit their local childrens home? It is arranged by their agents as pr. Thats why there just happens to be a photographer and film crew there.

Not saying they don't care, but don't try to make them out to be saints.

Harsh tarnishing all players with the same brush.

"There was no media accompanying him, so you could tell it was a gesture that he wanted to perform rather than feeling obliged to.

"Gareth was genuinely interested in Cian and his condition and gave him a Spiderman present for Christmas. He was also happy to pose for a photo with the family which his lovely girlfriend volunteered to take."

Apparently he goes there every year too round Christmas

I love Messi but you don't need to be a rocket scientist to see he's a little arrogant dwarf, he just doesn't show it in his mannerisms unlike Ronaldo but make no mistake he's a bit of an arsehole on the pitch, don't think there's anything wrong with it personally though.

I'm not sure that the penalty last night, where Messi passed up the opportunity to get his 300th league goal so that Suarez could get a hat-trick is the proper definition of arrogance, but I'm sure the Ronaldo fanboys will find a way of making it so.
