Would have preffered signing a replacement before letting him go. Would hate to see us running around last day of the window looking for a CB. In Tino we trust??

...awesome! we'll be full of mercenaries next year, none of whom will fancy the cold mid-week trips up north in December. They'll all be 'injured' after 10 games and we'll be relying on our 2nd - 3rd string. When are we ever going to learn!

Shame. I love Daws but it's not a surprise. I should think he'll be off to Hull or Redknapp's elephant graveyard. Great player, horribly undervalued at times, but there's no denying it's been in the post for a while. Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

Wasn't he told this when AVB arrived, yet stuck around and ended up playing a ton of games?

Considering our defensive line up, right now, to declare any of them 'surplus' before we've secured alternatives seems rather short sighted. If he's to be replaced at least secure a replacement first.

And by replacement, I mean a player who will dedicate his heart and soul to the team, who will battle like a warrior regardless of the dropping shoulders of those around him, mentor the young, encourage the off form and be a general all round hero, despite being slagged off relentlessly on forums by modern fuck-wit fans.

Going to take a very special player to step into our Captains shoes.

Love Michael Dawson.

Great attitude, great character. Archetypal solid English centre back and stalwart of the 'if in daaat kick it aaat' school of defending.

The truth is though he isn't suited to a high defensive line and he was responsible for so many mistakes last term mostly through a lack of touch and close control. It's kind of amazing he hasn't developed better footballing skills over the years though. It is his full time job after all.

Will miss his Hollywood balls *cough* and body-on-the-line/ heart-on-his-sleeve defending but he's not a defender of the future, sadly.

Many thanks Michael. You gave your all and that's all we can ask of you.

I think he's our least talented yet most reliable CB.
Imo, he shouldn't go until we've proven he can't get in the team. Last season, injuries meant he played almost every game.

He has been a great player for us. If he does go we need to make sure he is properly replaced.

Dawson has been a valuable player for us especially when others seem so fragile. He does make some horrendous mistakes but so do Verts and others...they just look more stylish in the process. We need players with his heart. I agree that he does not fit into the high defensive line game well but what if we ever need an alternative approach?

Luv u Daws! Totally agree he shouldnt be left go until we have a replacement, hell I woudln't let him go until we had 2 other choices at FB. With Verts and Vlad we have only 2, we simply can't rely on Kaboom.

Good luck to him. No point him finishing his career on the bench.

Hull would be a great move for him. Hopefully we will see him back again in some capacity.

He's def past it, but really can you say he's surplus to requirements when kaboom is always injured and Rose is Rose. I can only assume they have a replacement for Rose since Verts will be in the middle...

He's not past it, but the club has moved on. I notice the article is full of the usual quotes so we all accept it is true!!!! Daws does have his limitations, but he does put himself on the line and our other CBs can learn from him. As a fourth choice CB I still think has has a place, especially if there are doubts about Kaboom's knees or fitness.

Man City are full of mercenaries, doesn't do them any harm.
