thank god for that, wasn't happy with Brad carrying on in the cup games - totally different style from Lloris and we need continuity and healthy competition.

I reckon he'll rather be second choice at Spurs than Swansea, probably also with a better paycheck.

He'll be 31 in october, so he may see this offer as the best he's going to get in a somewhat big club.

Europa League is a big, big deal this year. IMO we have a better chance qualifying there than in the EPL. Would not have been too happy with Brad in that case. Hope we can get the deal over the line. Either that or we'll have to tell him 'Sorry, you're not bad enough to be our No 2' just to appease some on here ;).

Im not sure why people are knocking this signing. As good as Brad is, we need a number 2 who can come in and play the same role as Lloris - and we know Brad can't do that. Swansea play similar possession based football (and he is also a pretty good keeper).
Finally, if I was the keeper who had been replaced as number 1 by Fabianski then I would also be offski… :)

ANybody who would rather see Brad in goal over Vorm needs there head testing!

Yes Brad is a top guy a fantastic pro but he can not pull off the saves he once could & he is slower off the line than my Nan.

Vorm is a great signing for a no.2 goal keeper, i remember saying i would like him before we got Lloris.

Yes he's got another 14 years to go now.
Allows Brad to quietly fade out and take up a background role.
Good keeper, good move for us.

What if Hugo get`s injured? And if Hugo moves next summer we have Vorm in hook already...
We have Archer who has spent a season on loan. True I don't want him playing 25 games but in Hugo we've one of the best. I'm hoping it's only the odd emergency.

Hugo came close to being sent off a few times last season with last ditch challenges so it makes sense to have a good back-up.
If he plays well he might vorm his way into the team?

On the face of it, it's an odd one but Vorm is likely 2nd or 3rd choice at Swansea, now - with Fabianski & Tremmel (arguably) ahead of him.

Vorm was a starter last year at Swansea, and he's arguably a better GK than Fabianski (at least IMHO). He's definitely more quality than Tremmel (plush he's 5 years younger than Tremmel). :)

But it doesn't look as if he'll be first choice at Swansea, now that they hve signed Fabianski. I would think that's why he's open to a move in the first place.
I certainly get the fact that he may not think that he's no longer first choice at Swansea, what I'm really surprised at is that he could quite easily be the first choice keeper at least 6 or 7 other Premier league clubs and I'm not really sure why other clubs did not express interest in him because at 30, as a keeper he appears to have quite a few good years left in him. I rate him above Fabianski for the record.

Its great news for us if the deal does finally go through because we do need to replace Brad as he cannot go on forever, and if we have to reluctantly let Lloris move on to another club (and I sincerely hope that is not a scenario that crops up, but we have to be realistic) we will have a decent replacement already on our books.

If this deal does go through as seems likely by all accounts we will clearly have far and away the best combination of first and second choice keepers in the PL bar none.

Cant see the point of Vorm myself. Surely no way he going to 'compete with Loris to be first choice keeper', and Brad still does just fine in cup games.
The thing is, with brad as back up he's probably retiring this season.
With the view to do coaching / ambassador duties. Whilst he's a good keeper we have to change our shape and system to have him play in cups etc, vorm as backup means we can stick to the same system and style as we do during epl... And I think vorm can offer very decent comp for LLoris

Maybe Lloris's contract extension contains a release clause in the event we don't qualify for CL football? In that event we'd be looking for a new no1 next year and Vorm may have gone elsewhere.
Excellent back up keeper to have and will keep the pressure on Hugo to perform at the top of his game.

Maybe he only signed the new contract if he had a black man as back up?
Or Vorm only signed because Lennon promised him a belly rub?

Good signing imo but a strange one. Not for us but him. Why would you want to move to be second choice? Unless he knows something we dont  Could just be the 50k a week lol.

This means Levy would not refuse a mega offer for Lloris if one comes his way.

Agree but not this summer, Vorm in to me means that Lloris will be off next summer for sure.
We all know that he is bigger than us at this point, Bale was too and he deserved to be where he is now.

Vorm is a quality keeper at Premier League level, he could easily keep things stable between the sticks (as long as we add a decent centre back too) if Lloris chooses to do the inevitable.

Yeah the 50k would do it.
* is it really that much ? Shit *
But that's what brad has been on and he's going to be taking a pretty hefty wage cut. Plus we just offloaded Gomes wages so it's not like we are increasing wages spent via this signing

Confused as to why people find Vorm's apparent decision a bad one.

We've been on the wrong end of the stick of players joining billionaire clubs ahead of us for financial rather than footballing reasons.

In the 2012-13 season our wage bill was nearly double Swansea's.

He has clearly been offered a lot more money to join us. It's really that simple.

Talk about 1st choice, 2nd choice, could get 1st team football elsewhere is off the mark.
