He has zero presence in the penalty area. Every set piece we look in trouble. Lloris would do better even after a night on the town.

I don’t really understand what we are doing with Gazzaniga and Vorm. Surely Gazza is the younger option who needs game time? Vorm is seemingly here to bench warm so let him.

By all means no I haven’t seen much of Gazza, other than the game against Palace where I thought he was brilliant. Surely though he needs some time to show what he can do? We know what we get with Vorm.

We have to give Gazza more game time when Lloris isn’t available . Next season , get a home grown gk as replacement for Vorm.

Surely Poch is picking who he thinks is the best goalkeeper based on their performances in training?

I think it's worth a shot letting Gazzinga start against Inter. He's only had one game, but he proved himself to be a good replacement for when Lloris (and Vorm) were out injured
Vorm's performance yesterday was not good enough.

Vorm has cost us 6 points. Makes it even more ridiculous that we use up 2 non HG slots for reserve GKs who just aren’t good enough.

First sentence is absolute bollocks, 2 abject displays from our outfield players cost us the points, we didn't deserve anything from either game.

Second sentence absolutely spot on though.

Yes our outfield players have been poor but without his mistakes we don't concede 4 goals. Simplistic analysis I know but probably reflects my frustration at the utter stupidity of our last transfer window when it came to the goalkeeping situation (among other positions).

It was said quite a few times during the transfer window that having two non-homegrown players as 2nd and 3rd choice goalkeepers seems a bit stupid. Lloris will hopefully be around and at the top of his game for a good few years yet, but given Vorm is older he can't be considered an understudy in the true sense.

Vorm makes me nervous, whether he has the same effect on our defence or not I've no idea but we certainly seem to lose some cohesion at the back when he plays compared to Hugo. Some of that is understandable, with a non-regular keeper starting, but the situation as a whole doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

Either Gazzaniga is considered a potential successor or he is not. If not, it's a waste of a non-homegrown slot. If he is, or might be, then he should be the one to come in when Hugo is out, in which case Vorm should move on. In either scenario we should bring in a younger, homegrown third choice.

In my opinion the latter scenario is the one I'd prefer given the aforementioned lack of confidence and because two younger keepers gives a better chance of finding an eventual successor. After all, class is permanent, Vorm is temporary.

I'm not sure where all the Gazzaniga love has come from? He's played one game for us and won't most Southampton fans say he was really bad for them?

I don't think it's love for him. More people fed up of Vorm, who's played pretty terribly for us for quite some time.

I suppose you could say 'different team, different circumstances'. He seemed all right against Palace in the only game he's had for us. But I think it's more a case of: what's he doing here if he's not good enough to be considered for games? Assuming that we signed him because we think he has something, and he's had plenty of time with our coaches, shouldn't he get a chance?

Part of it is probably wanting change because Vorm is a known quantity and that quantity seems short. The conservative option is to stick with Vorm for now, and I expect that's what we'll do, but even then surely we need to address the keeper situation sooner rather than later.

Vorm starts, brilliant. If he fucks up once today, I'm going to set up a car-park fight with him

Is it coincidence that our losses correlate perfectly with his inclusion in the team ? I don’t think so. Big mistake offering him a new contract in the summer.
