Nice read Stoof. Made me laugh.

The biggest worry for me RE: Sat was the starting formation. Bentley on the left and Lennon on the right? PLEASE! If you feel you HAVE to play the two then play them the other way round at least!

And why oh why isn't Zokora or Hudd being played as the DM we so desperately need?

My team for Sat (providing Berbatov is still with us):

Gomes

Gunter King Woody Bale

Hudd / Zokora

Bentley Modric Dos Santos

Berbatov Bent

Bench: Lennon, Jenas, Zok / Hudd, O'Hara, Gilberto, Dawson, Sanchez

Erm, Pedant's Corner here: Surely there have been 150 opening games from the last 10 years? Which would make the home side win rate at 1/2? Sorry...

What?

10 fixtures each year on opening day/weekend. Multiplied by 10 years.

100?

I'd love to know your maths, milesy.

I agree with the home team stats totally. Its about time the Spurs Foundation made a request to the club for next seasons opener to be at Home. Obviously if you win Away first game of the season its a fantastic start, but a Home match for us on the first day is long overdue & would be a reasonable request - espcially after 4 years Away on the trot.

Enjoyed reading the article, didn't agree or disagree with all of it, but that is by the by, nice style. a couple of comments

As I have posted in a couple of other places, after shamelessly stealing third hand from Spurs Odyssey (credit to marcspurs) from a total of 100 Premiership opening games in the last 10 years, 75 of those (and thus a convenient 75%) have been won by the home team, 15 have ended all square leaving a measley 10 fixtures in the away side taking the points.

Well i didn't know that, And no English manager has ever won the prem, So thats good for us

Premier League we've only had 7 at home (out of 18). W
Well i didn't know that either, can we now shout "fix" "Conspiracy" and isn't 17 (92 -08)

Luka Modric. Being debated to the very bone now in the forums - (Spurs Chat plug, apologies) - a lot of expectation on his diminutive shoulders. Quite rightly so. Scored one of the first goals of Euro 2008 (albeit from the spot) and introduced as "Tottenham's new big money signing" virtually every time he touched the ball.

The boy reminds me a lot of Carrick.

I was, a carrick fan,(still like his football) and often "debated" the pros of Carrick..I think Modric will soon(ish) show why we signed him.
He doesn't really remind me of carrick. if anyone (although i don't really like comparing player to player) i would say our Little argy Ossie.

The good news is the guys on ESPN (singapore) place us 3-4 and Mcmarn (sp) the ex midfield liverpool player turned pundit. Likes us alot, and also reckoned Modric a super talent, he also likened him to Ossie...IS that the kiss of death?

the only people i can see knocking modric are non-spurs supporters... how after one competitive game they can call him a waste of money is beyond me. the same people knocked drogshit/essien/vidic/evra and countless more in their first seasons until they suddenly became world class!!
