Harry Redknapp is closing in on Roma star Mirko Vucinic.

Tottenham boss Redknapp is keeping tabs on the 27-year-old striker, who is Montenegro's dangerman and the biggest threat to England in their Euro 2012 qualification group.

Although Vucinic recently insisted he is not looking to leave Roma, Tottenham are still watching developments to see whether he becomes available.

Vucinic, who has also been on the radar of Manchester United in the past, would cost around £12million.

Please let this be true, definitely a player we should be trying seriously to buy, intelligent, talented, lovely touch and can play on the left or as a target man in the middle.

As good a player as he is, he's not really the most prolific striker is he? 10 goals in around 30 games this season.

From the times I've seen him he's more of a forward who holds the ball up and gets teammates involved in the buildup but isn't really an out and out striker. Not exactly what we need imo but for 12 million it would be a great deal.

He gets played on the left most games that I have seen him, but his true position IMO is as a centre forward. This is the man we should have replaced Berbatov with as soon as he left. Im sure if he was played centrally he would score a hell of alot more. He's a big game player too.

He would be up there with Falcao for me. Would bloody love him. His ability to play left of a front three would also be of benefit especially if Damiao comes in as expected.

Cracking player, right age, right experience and could do with a move.

The upgrade on Crouch that we may want but don't necessarily need. Can't see it unless we get a big offer (10m+) for Crouch.

I suspect we may well be "keeping tabs" on Vucinic but make no mistake this story is pigshit. The Mirror desperately needed to fill space and so, given its international weekend, found a club and a player loosely linked to England's situation and bashed out a hundred words. Too easy.

I received a text from Italy yesterday, regarding this Mirko Vucinic.
It is reported that Spurs are interested in signing him and he is interested in joining Spurs.
Juve, Inter & Fiorentina are also sniffing around him.

Completely, 100% agree with everything you have said mate. Vucinic is a fabulous all round player, and would score loads more for Roma if he wasn't stuck out on the wing. His style reminds me of Berba.

If we buy him it'll be a major coup.

A good player, but Lukaku and Gervinho would be the ideal strikers to sign - long term. Would rather pay overprice for those two, and secure good strikers for years to come. Can't you see the excitement and quality we would get?

Whilst I agree with you there and I too would like to see both of those at the lane, that could potentially mean we don't get CL football for at least another 2 seasons. We need players that are ready to go now. I feel both of those would need a season or 2 to settle in (more so Lukaku). If we were to get both of them I can't see Crouch, Pav or Defoe going anywhere. Gervinho would have to play on the wing and fight to dislodge Lennon (if he's still here).

It's the same for that Brazilian kid, he won't come straight in a score 20 goals in a season. Having said all of that you can never tell how a player will do until he gets that chance. For all I know we could sign these young unproven strikers and they could become joint top scorers in the league

Should this guy be the man to lead our forward line next season?

His agent has come out and stated that there is a possibility of a transfer away from Roma and Juventus have been linked with a switch.

For the price of 12 million that is stated surely its a no-brainer.

I personally would hope that we are doing all we can in order to sign him. Make him our main signing for the position he's made for; that man up top.

Do it Levy.

Another link today, would need to negotiate though, £18m would be too much for him.

Think he'd do well for us, though I agree, £18mil is way too much

£10-12mil it fair I think for a player who has been unsettled for a while

In a world where Andy Carroll is worth £35M and Torres £50M

£17M for someone as classy as Vucinic who is in his prime is a snip. wasn't Darren Bent that much?

this guy oozes class, Is basically Berba with more pace.

Get him please Levy.

I would prefer to pay £18m for Vucinic than pay over £10m for Leandro.
This is the guy we need, good experience and someone who has been slightly under par for a while who will not cost us an absolute fortune.
Of all the strikers we have been linked with,he is our best option.
I think we can get him for a bit less than £15m.

this guy and leandro seem to be the two strikers in the frame.

both around 15 million so not quite the steller signing everyone has been hoping for.

would people be happy with these two or a rossi for 35 million?

I would far rather have the two for £30m or so and get rid of Keane and either Pav or Defoe.

Vucinic is a stellar signing if we make it. He could play for anyone in the Premiership. And Leandro certainly seems to have the potential to make a huge impact.

He looks the part, a pacey version of Berbatov. Well he certainly reminds me of Berbatov, his touch and that dip of the shoulder when he flicks the ball...just oozes class.

Could well be realistic to.
