If the figures here are to be believed, then he was well within our reach:

Mirko Vucinic is expected to complete his transfer to Juventus on Monday, as Roma receive €15m spread out over three years.

"I'm happy. It's what I wanted," he is quoted as saying by the Gazzetta dello Sport.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]The striker had also been of interest to Manchester United, Tottenham and Blackburn Rovers, but made it clear from the start of the summer that he wanted Turin.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Giallorossi director general Walter Sabatini said a meeting was planned “for next week,” but newspapers in Italy are certain that would only be to undergo a medical and put pen to paper.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]A deal has been struck worth €15m to be paid in instalments over a three-year period, although sources in Rome suggest a further €3m in performance-related bonuses.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Vucinic is set to sign a four-year contract worth over €3m per season, becoming Juve’s sixth signing of the new season.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]The sign that the deal had been completed was the fact the Montenegrin international did not take part in Friday’s training session.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]The striker first joined Roma in 2006 from Lecce and scored 47 goals in his five years at the Olimpico.

15m euros over 3 years makes him very much within our budget (if reported fee and payment structure is accurate) it really does look like an opportunity missed.

I hope we do sign someone equally as good or better because if we end up with a strike force as bad as last season when we had an opportunity to sign this guy (who I think would link up very well with VDV) it will be a real disappointment.

I think there is some truth in the suggestion he would have preferred Juve to us anyway, he may well be more adjusted to the Italian lifestyle and league so it may not have actually been an option for us whilst the more prestigious Juve were in for him.

I cannot believe why players can choose Juventus. It is mafia and dirty tricks in that club.

And the most successful club in Italian history. Not really rocket science to work out why they join.

he is settled and accustom to the Italian league and the lifestyle in Italy, Juve are a bigger club than us with a far greater history and it seems they were quicker to agree a deal with Roma than we were (probably also offering him a better wage)

The only thing we have over them currently is the Europa League, which is probably not a big draw for a player who has played CL football and could have simply stayed at Roma for Europa league next season.

I don't know if he is a family man but if so its also possible he would prefer to keep them in Italy were they are settled rather than move to London.

I think this is a deal Levy was looking at but I don't think Harry was interested IMO
