Bit unfair he joined the biggest club in the country and one of the biggest in the world. If any of us were in the same position we would have done the same.

ManU were willing to pay the price (transfer fee & salary demands) while Spurs didn't..

disagree - i have, on more than one occasion, taken a job that offered less money because there was another move that was the better career path. In Morgans case his choice was a team that would him a huge pay day but seemed in significant flux and instability due to massive recruitment and no long term coherence on leadership v a team with a decent pay day working for a guy who had already shown he could elevate Morgan's game.

He chose the money - to my mind that is greed and stupidity. I would not have done that. Just like I would not have been like the 101 young players joining Chelsea in the last 5-6 years. But that was Morgan's choice and I hope he enjoys playing for Tony Pulis.

the key word is the salary demand - glad we didn't give him the 100K a week he got from Utd but he can enjoy his money at the Hawthorns and I, for one, am very happy we ended up with Dier and VW as our CM.

The interesting contrast is with Eriksen - who had other clubs interested (who would have paid more) but came to us and has done well for himself

Morgan - went for the money, didn't get to play...now on WBA shopping list
Had he joined Poch would have likely started for France at Euros - merc got what he deserves and we got Eric Dier!

Yep. And let's not forget, Southampton had point blank refused to let him join us even though he had shat in their bed. And the summer he joined United, they again made it clear that there was zero chance that they would sell him to us.

It's not like he directly turned us down to join them.

And, funnily enough, United made it absolutely clear they wouldn't sell him to us last summer, too - and he maybe would have liked to have done.

No need to beat down on the fella (y)

Better career path? Please, from his perspective utd had had a one season blip. They had won the league 2 seasons before, biggest club in the country possibly the biggest fan base in the world). Had just signed a new manager whose trophy collection poch could only dream about. He was not a kid needing game time to improve, he was a french international and established in the premier league.

Take your lillywhite tinted glasses of it was a no brainer for him. Even if things didn't turn out.

Ffs some of our fans were predicting us to finish mid table by the end of the window.

hey - agree to disagree - at the time it seemed like a decision made very superficially and not the one he should have made. Have been proven right but he could have succeeded of course.

Nothing to do with having lillywhite glasses, everything to do with Poch and Morgans experience with him.

Possibly while Fergie was there. They epitomised continuity for nearly 30 years.
But they're one of the wonkiest ships in the league at the moment. They'll chew up and spit out players and managers at a rate unmatched in the premier league for a decade now.
Any player going there is nothing more than a mercinary now. They look so far fom title contenders they'll be glad to get Europa league.

When he joined they had had a one season blip. Now you might be right and players might second guess. We at the time had finished 5th and well off the pace, our manager had only been with us for one season and had had a number in the previous years. The two previous managers had finished with more points than poch and still been sacked.

He had played for Pochettino at Southampton so knew him very well.
I forget if Moyes or LVG were at United but they were both shit appointments from day one and doomed to fail. I don't even think to so called special one will last 3 seasons there.

I do think that's harsh on Morgan. He joined them when they trying to find a replacement/upgrade for Carrick. They still are going into the January window.

If United had offered the same money or less it was probably a more attractive offer as he would have less chances of securing first team football at Spurs.
