Thanks for the info. If Poch really made him the player he is today, I am excited to see what he can do with Capoue & Sandro.

Having looked at how Soton play last season with likes of Cork & Prowse, I can see Bentaleb having a big season; Also if Holtby impresses, I can see him being perfect MF for Poch;

So, I don't believe we will be spending 16m on Sneiderlin. Ever Banega to Spurs is more believable IMO, given he offers something different

I'd actually be interesting in seeing Schniederlin and Capoue as a DM pair.

I've still got high hopes for Capoue, especially after he has been through a Pochettino pre season and Schniederlin is too good to stay at Southampton

It will be interesting to see what kind of value Southampton put on him.

Yeah, not sure what his contractual situation is, probably two to three years to run on current one.

He'll be pretty expensive though if that's the case and doing well tonight only enhances his value further. I have no idea what sort of figure they would come up with. He's 24/25 I think...At a guess, in and around 15 million, minimum probably.

And just food for thought since we're on the topic, Schneiderlin averaged a ridiculous 37 forward passes a game last season. That's 12 more a game than any of our central mids, and roughly 1.5 times as many as that most forward-passing mid (Paulinho).

Anything under the Paulinho fee and he's a steal

Can't see Capoue & Sneiderlin play in same XI; Both play in same exact position & do the same job.

Yeah, that would be a very tasty looking midfield. Solid and robust but just as importantly, one that offers progressive passing.

A very attractive blend of ingredients for an efficient midfield.

While that's a rather forward-playing CDM pair, I don't think there's enough creativity from the center in that combination. Far too few goals, assists, key passes, and chances created in each of their past records (although you could certainly argue Poch could shift that).

I do emphatically agree with you on Capoue though. I think he'll be brilliant under Poch.

As good as Capoue can be, I can't see him in Poch squad with his lack of mobility. I would bet Holtby to stay in squad than Capoue

Yeah I think the only way Schneiderlin would be coming in is if he's a Sandro replacement. If Napoli don't meet Levy's price, just no way the idea's even entertained.

Also, I like that shout of Holtby in a Poch midfield. I too think he'd work very well.

Woh bro, I've been with you this entire time, but Capoue no mobility? I'd like to encourage you to revisit some of those highlight tapes of him from Toulouse, or maybe some film of him back in August with us. I think he's a perfect CDM for Poch.

My mistake, I thought Morgan played relatively further forward than Capoue.

With Capoue I remember the first game of the season against Palace and he was cutting out passes left and right, it may be that Palace were as sloppy as Jordan after a visit from the local rugby club but he just seemed to read the game incredibly well. It's a shame became Capodge after his injury and then Tim forgot who he was

Depends ifhe can regain the shaprness he had when he first came, he got injured then seemed to slow right down. Holtby is much more a poch player, as it stands, for sure. Hope capoue can raise his game again though, is a good player. You just know he'll go to another club and be brilliant if he leaves.

Nope; What he is good at is positioning & reading of the game; Once he reads the situation, he needs minimum movement; But I have never seen him play pressing football; Though he played as a CB against Liverpool loss, his lack of mobility was there to see; He simply couldnt keep with Suarez, Coutinho or Sterling

My assessment from the time as well. I thought his game-readability and mobility combined with physicality to ensure it was snuffed out was very impressive, and especially in his first game in the Premier League. I thought he was brilliant the length of August until his injury at the Emirates as well.

In truth, you're actually not wrong that Schneiderlin plays a bit higher than a typical holding mid. While not quite a "classic DLP" in that he moves up to create, he was the one typically tasked with dispersal from deep in that Saints midfield (also because of his excellent defensive record in acquiring the ball). So while I still think we could use a bit more source of creativity specifically in that position alongside the CDM, and preferably one with a strong defensive record as well (shameless Badelj plug ), you weren't wrong in your assumption at all.

He's not a mobile CDM because he couldn't keep with that attacking line of pace and creativity after just having returned from a lengthy injury and playing in his less favorite as a CB behind a midfield that couldn't contain 'pool's to save their lives?

He is sheer class and is better than any other midfielder we have apart from Eriksen who is obviously a very different type of player. He would stroll into our first 11.

You know tbh, I wouldn't have argued he'd start over Capoue even three hours ago, but after his performance tonight I no longer have any basis whatsoever to argue against this.

If Poch manages to convince the club to part with the money it'd take to get this fella, I'd be delighted with the prospects.
