Chris Mort is to step down as Newcastle United chairman, Sky Sports News understands.
Mort is expected to leave the post before the start of next season to return to the legal profession.
Mort joined the club last summer after owner Mike Ashley took over at St James' Park.
The Magpies have yet to confirm Mort's departure, or the identity of his replacement.
