Gary Neville is the best pundit, Roy Keane was great when he was on ITV too, even if he did only cover the negatives, and I think Lee Dixon isn't toooo bad either, at least not compared to others. Favourite commentator is actually Jim Beglin, most probably wont agree but his Bundesliga coverage is actually great imo
Beglin is very good IMO. Actually sounds like he would rather be watching an obscure CL match than be on the golf course, which is rare.

Each to their own :) I think a common criticism of Beglin is that he often talks about something outside the main play. But for me that's a good thing, I can already see the play with my eyes, so if he's looking out for things off the screen or runs which could be made off the ball etc then it offers a different insight to the game. The opposite of Andy 'that ball really moved' Townsend

As you say, to each their own. I guess I have some distant past experience of TV and radio football journalism and commentary and I'm fussy. There are ways helping the viewer understand what is outside the small area that they can see without boring them to tears.
Again,I would agree with you about Andy Townsend. So poor that I don't know how he keeps his job.

I thank everything that I don't have to listen to/read the shit that the commentators, pundits, columnists, and "experts" have to say about football.

American sports media and panels are absolutely horrible, but I don't put too much worth in what they say anyway. The English press, though... My god. Worst I have ever seen.
