This is so wrong.

This myth has come from the fact we are paying the fee in installments - like most football transfers. Whatever happens Newcastle will get their £30m - even if we do sell him on we still owe them £30m.

Yes nearly all transfers are in installments. The info in the player thread was that we had a separate clause of £6m per season as an add-on. If that's not true then fine but everybody seemed to be in agreement back then...

The fact is we don't know the exact deal. Some/most deals will include the transfer fee being higher if the player achieves certain things such as 50 goals, international call-up, etc.

But some actually believed if we sold Sissoko this sumer we'd only pay £6m. Basic common sense suggests that is not true.

So my guess is there is a way to pay less than the £30m as he hasn't done anything but not as little as you suggested.

To be absolutely clear, the only person I've heard saying only £6m is you. I was saying that the thread had said £17m guaranteed payment (spread over however many installments) and then £6m a season add-on

Common sense says we wouldn't pay £30m for such a poor player, which is why the 17+6+6 etc. was believable

We owed Newcastle 6M per season. If we sold him after 1 season we'd pay them the 6M plus a sell on. I don't recall the exact amount but I think it was 17M? Basically anything up to 17M would all go to Newcastle if we sold and anything overage would stay with Spurs.

Worth noting that inflation in football is bananas. Our 6 million a season might, and likely will, look like a tiny number in 4 years.

Classic Levy. If we can get anything north of 20 mill as an upfront sum this summer then the loss will be negligible.

If it was me I'd take less than 20 just to get him off the wage bill. Useless player.

Any source on this that is not rehashing an article that the journalist in question already refuted?

He's not looked up to it this season so happy to sell. If he were to stay, well i wouldnt care that much. This is a higher level of club football than hes ever played, might improve next season.

Sissoko to leave THFC after 'worst season of career'. But wants honest chat Pochettino. 'If he doesn't want me he should say so' (L'Equipe)

Spoke to my mate yesterday who knows Paul Mitchell really well. This was the signing that broke the camels back as it were with Levy. Went against everything Mitchell believed in, regards to player age, playing style etc. Also interesting to hear that DL does read through fan forums!

Mitchell handed in his resignation weeks before the Sissoko deal happened.

I don't want to worry anyone but I think Moussa might be about to break up with us....

Moussa: 'If you love me, let me go.'
Us: 'It's not us Moussa, it's most definitely you.'

He's just quickening his departure going to the press to say this before meeting Poch. I suspect that's the intention, he can't be that thick to think the manager would appreciate things in the news before getting the chance to talk privately.

Good riddance.

I was willing to give him another season, but if he's going to start all this "I should've played more", "I don't know what I've done wrong" victim shit then he can leave.

Doesn't really sound like he's saying that to me, just that he he wants to play football with the World Cup coming next year.
