He comes across very well on spurs TV..seems really confident, maybe we should give him a go? unless hes being extremely Big Headed it sounds as if he has really impressed Juande!

what you reckon?

Given he came back from a good loan spell, and straight onto the bench, I suspect Ramos likes what he's seen and may give him a chance. However, it will be tough getting a start in CM: he's behind JJ, Zoko, Hud, Prince and.... whoever we buy in January. If that's Poulsen, that will reduce young Jamie's chances still further.

However, the games are coming thick and fast at the moment, and if Juande sticks him in the side and he has a good couple of games, that just might launch a Spurs career...

He's left footed as well. I'd like to see him given a chance on the left as its a bit of a gamble putting a player that young and inexperienced into the centre of midfield. I've heard he pretty much pulls the strings for the reserves.

He is left-footed, but he's not very fast, and all the reports I've read from the ressies and youth team when he played on the left have not been encouraging.

It would be good to hear BOF or another of the regular ressie watchers both on O'Hara in general, and whether he could play LM.

I saw him at Millwall, scored a cracker and good passer, but he is a LM not a LW, not pace is not necessary a problem.

Is he a bit Alan Ball-ish in terms of height?

Considering we are currently playing Steed on the left and he has no pace either I'd say its worth a try. Think Gareth Barry type left midfielder as opposed to winger, as matjcole said.

That's true. And Steed has worked his socks off for Ramos, and earned a place in the team.

But if you look at Ramos' Sevilla system, he demanded pace and the ability to go down the line from his wide midfield players. Steed has proven to Juande that he can go down the left touchline and cross with his left foot, and has - imo - been instructed by Ramos not to cut inside so much. He doesn't have much pace, but he can beat a man and get a cross in.

Compare this with Tainio, who often played wide midfield under Jol - in the kind of LM (or RM) role I suspect you're suggesting for O'Hara. Teemu has played about 2 minutes since Ramos arrived. My interpretation (which is simply that, an interpretation) is that Ramos does not regard Teemu as his idea of a wide midfield player - precisely because he can't even make the runs that Steed will do in that wide position.

But I could be wrong. Maybe we'll see young Jamie playing LM at the weekend.

he did play well for Millwall, so why not give him a chance!

The boy is class and has been ready for the first team for well over a season and a half i have seen him loads of times and has always impressed good left foot scores and makes goals and most important works hard on and off the ball should have had well over 15 starts for the first team by now we must use him soon or we will loose a player who could go on to have a good impact on the prem.

You rang? Or posted? Anyways, I've been hoping that JO will get a first-team chance. It's always difficult to judge how the big step up to the PL will go, but he's done well at Millwall (they want to buy him) and Chesterfield (scored 5 goals for them on loan last season).

It's true he's not tall, but he's terrier-like in his tackling. He can also ping a long ball. Not sure where you read the 'not encouraging' reports on him. Mine are always positive. He was a hot-head, but Edgar Davids calmed him down.

He is easily the best of our reserve crop. If we can give the likes of Barcham, Jackson, Marney, Yeates and Barnard a chance in the first team, then JO deserves one just as much.

BOF - I did indeed ring! :)

Thanks for responding. I think you've slightly misunderstood my post (in good faith of course). I've seen glowing reports of O'Hara (esp after Davids arrived), but nearly always when he was playing in CM (rather than LM).

I think you've answered the first question - you do think he's good enough to get a chance in CM. The second question is: do you think he could play as the left-sided midfielder in a Ramos team?

Not sure, but when I last saw the WWF endangered species/high risk of extinction list the first three were pretty much covered.

Yes he could play LM. But he's nowhere near as good as Steed at the moment, so I wouldn't drop him. It's a shame that neither our Calring nor FA Cup games are against lower-league opposition, because that would have been an ideal time to give him a run-out, much like Dervite and Barcham got against Port Vale last season.

Weird as this may sound I can see him playing as left central midfield. With Ledley and Lee behind him and JJ and Steed/Bale beside him, I think he could do a job there.

And he'll score for us way before Zokora, you can bet on that.

Apparently he got as far as warming-up on Sunday. By every account he seems far more of a Ramos type than Taarabt.

So, if the midfield 4 was, say, Lennon, JJ, Steed and O'Hara, you wuld line them up so:

Lennon - JJ - O'Hara - Steed

with O'Hara in the middle and Steed in the LM position?

And he'll score for us way before Zokora, you can bet on that.

Yeah, but my nan would score....

No, seriously, thanks for all that info, BOF. It would be good to see another Academy lad come through, and I do remember all those stories of how Edgar Davids had taken O'Hara under his wing and was personally mentoring him. Let's hope it will pay off for us.

The next Dean Marney perhaps?

Better I think.

But not suitable for a wide role. Anymore than Jackson was. Or Joe Martin, who I see someone else is suggesting. A good left foot can be a bit of a curse, when it results in players being played out of position, and then being pilloried for not being something they never aspired to be.

If we are looking for a leftie Charlie Daniels might be a better option, but I do no think he would ever be Premeirship class as a winger. However his strength and stamina combined with his wing play suggest a bright future as a leftfullback.

But if we do pluck a leftie out of the reserves I suspect it will be Rose. I have yet to see him, but he was considered a huge prospect at Leeds, so Poyet will know all about him.
