RIP :(

A Northern Ireland fan has died in Nice, French police have confirmed.

It is believed the man, who was in his 20s, was on his own and fell about eight metres from a promenade onto a rocky beach.

Supt Nigel Goddard, who is leading the PSNI team in France, said he was told the man's death was an accident and not in any way disorder related.

It's of course sad when anyone dies and his family must be devastated and my thoughts are with them, however I'm not sure why this has made the national news.

I can't help but think it is simply because the guy was at the Euros and the headline is intended to shock people in thinking, "oh, bet that is related to the violence" and unless they read the article they won't know.

Fans dying at football matches or events make the news all the time. Some who die make the news even when they aren't anywhere near the event, like the chinese fan who died just watching the world cup. Even that poxy Octopus made the news when he carked it.

The news is stupid

RIP. Horrible when a special occasion turns into a nightmare, thoughts with his family.

Some lovely tributes from the Republic fans today both at the match in Paris and at the fanzone here in Belfast, found myself getting quite emotional watching the local news tonite, absolutely tragic.
