Hi all,

Weder's pitch was massive! And it made me question why do we have such a narrow pitch at the Lane?

I mean we relie on our wingers heavily, so does it make it easier to get the ball out on the wing. But in all these games that we struggle to score eg Wigan it seems so easy for teams just to put 2 banks of 4 in their own half and its like threading a thread through the top of a nail, there is absolutely no space....

If we had a wider pitch it would allow more space in the middle of the park which would be very useful to the likes of VDV Modric and Hudd. We would also be able to ping the ball from wing to wing as we did today.

I can understand someone like Stoke creating a small pitch to make it more of a physical game and making their long balls more effective... But Spurs???? We're meant to be playing good football!

It's only 3 yards narrower than Man U or city's pitch. West Ham have a tiny pitch and we did ok there last season.

Standard pitch is 105x68m with the minimum being 100m long and 64m wide and the maximum being 110m long and 75m wide.

White Hart Lane is 100x67m. Its a bit short, but its a normal width pitch. I don't think there is any room anyway to get an extra 5m length or 2 or 3 more meters in width.

Ah ok its the premier league regulations making the English pitches tiny..... But yeh we could probably fit in another metre or two width wise if you look at the pitch next time you go there's some space either side. But then there's probably regulations about how close the pitch can be to the billboards/fans..

Hopefully with our new stadium, we'll have a wider pitch so we can stretch teams more and prevent these bore draws with the likes of Wigan

Those numbers that I told you are straight for the laws of the game for "international matches". I'd wager the Premier League regulations are the same, but I can't be for sure.

Great stats. I can't believe we could have an extra ten metres in length. I think we'd benefit from a wider pitch. There's no chance of widening the Lane but hopefully the pitch will be a little wider at the new ground.

hopefully the new pitch at the new stadium will be built to accommodate our strength in width. It is a good point.

I'm just looking forward to Lennon getting back on form and him and Bale terrorising defenders on both flanks regardless of pitch width.

Such a shame when AL was on form we had not a lot on the left now it's the other way around at the moment.

I found this in the premier league rules.

The Pitch
21. In League Matches the length of the pitch shall be not more than 110 metres nor less than
100 metres and its breadth not more than 75 metres nor less than 64 metres.
22. For UEFA club competitions the pitch must measure 105 metres in length by 68 metres in
breadth exactly. If for technical reasons of a construction related nature it is impossible to
achieve the required dimensions a UEFA Club Licence may nevertheless be granted provided
that the pitch is minimum 100 metres to maximum 105 metres in length by minimum 64
metres to maximum 68 metres in breadth.
