#ColU are pleased to announce a second addition, with Nathan Oduwa signing from @SpursOfficial on loan. More soon! pic.twitter.com/aRwpazMCPQ

Best of luck to Nathan - think he will find the refereeing in League 1 a lot better than ion Scotland where GBH and fair tackling seem to be confused.

Initially for a month

To league 1?
I thought he was at least ready for the Championship

Or is it that out of the window he cannot join a championship side?

league 1 is a good level for him, he hasn't done enough to get a championship club yet but maybe he will next year if he does well in the next few months.

Possibly the thinking is to get him a loan where he'll play regularly without being kicked off the pitch all the time.

Having seen Alli (and Mason) go directly from League 1 to Spurs, not sure its essential to play in Championship - last preseason looked good against 3 Championship clubs though so clearly can play at that level

“Nathan likes to have the ball at his feet.

There’s a big difference between looking like a player and being a player and that’s what he’s got to learn.

He’s got to be able to beat people and get balls into the box and be effective for the team.

There were two or three things he did OK (against Port Vale) but that’s not enough.”

That doesn't sound good.

Apparently needs to learn to play for the team not himself.

Great natural talent but i dont think he will make it with us apparently not signing a new contract ether?

I know you love these soundbites but they are no way similar

Not having a go but alot people seem to comment on a player without knowing the situation

No idea what that's supposed to mean.

And agrdavidsfan isn't just anybody.

Im not knocking Agrdavidsfan but Oduwa's situation is different of many players we had in our academy. It seems our loan moves have hugely backfired, which is unsurprising

Colchester United manager Kevin Keen has backed Nathan Oduwa to have a good career in the game after his loan spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium ended.

Oduwa managed only two substitute appearances for the U’s in his spell at the club from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and has now returned to White Hart Lane.

The 20-year-old winger recently featured in the Nigeria under-23 squad in Brazil and boss Keen said his involvement on the international stage played a part in them deciding against Oduwa staying for longer.

Keen said: “We weren’t sure whether to keep him or not and he did OK, but he then got called up for Nigeria Under-23s which meant he would miss a couple of games.

“We just decided in the long run that it would be better for him to go back to Tottenham.
“He’s a great lad with a great work ethic.
“He did Tottenham proud in the chances that he did have.
“He has a great attitude and he’ll have a good career but it was just with the Nigeria thing and him going off to Brazil, it sort of made our decision for us.
“Drey (Wright) has done well up there for us and Darren Ambrose has scored when he’s come in and done well.”

So sounds like Oduwa's going to Nigeria u23 matches were the clinching reason for him not staying ?

Why do you think so?
