I think you'll find most fans wanted him to be given a chance in the first team.

That was not really my point, of course they do want him to be given a chance. But if - stressing if - most fans also want Spurs to keep signing more strikers then his chances will become more and more limted. So, considering that fact, then how much do they really want him to be given a chance?
Unless he's an exceptional talent he simply won't get enought minutes to prove and improve himself.

Unless he's an exceptional talent he simply won't get enought minutes to prove and improve himself enough.

He's not a striker though

We have Kane, then a new striker, and then a mix of players who "could" play upfront (Chadli, Lamela, Son, maybe N'Jie) and that leaves a space for a young striker (17-19) to get on the bench on occasion, make some late appearances and hopefully impress to move up the pecking order to a bona fide third striking option, regularly on the bench and perhaps making the big break through.

I think Poch is slowly getting the squad to the right numbers/depth which will allow kids to break through. Mason and Bentaleb started yesterday, with Alli, Carroll, Pritchard and Onumah on the bench - not bad.

Ultimately, I think we will see a couple of first teamers who aren't top quality (Dembele, Chadli and perhaps Lamela) get overtaken by youth and signings like Son and N'Jie

PENALTY! Rangers have a spot kick as Andy Dowie brings down Dominic Ball! - 52 mins

Pen converted to make it 2-0, think Ball is playing LB - usually plays CB, CM or RB, !

Rangers FC‏@RangersFC
66' SUB: Nathan Oduwa replaces Kenny Miller for the Gers.

Rangers now 4-0 up, and think Oduwa playing LW

Rangers FC‏@RangersFC
74' Jake Pickard sees yellow for a wild swipe at Nathan Oduwa after the Gers man shows some lovely skill out on the touchline.

freeekick (after the yellow card) from a dangerous position results in a hand-ball in the box and Rangers score from the penalty to make it 5-0

Oduwa has been fouled 3 times in 10 minutes - he's proving difficult for defenders to handle

How the Beeb saw it :
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34031842
' Rangers boss Mark Warburton introduced the flamboyant Nathan Oduwa for the final 20 minutes, with the substitute drawing several fouls from the home defence. After Oduwa was chopped down on the edge of the area, Iain Russell raised his arm high to block the resultant free-kick, and Waghorn thumped his second penalty beyond Thomson'

bit concerned with oduwa and a couple of questions raised. Bit worrying that he is finding it this easy, makes me worry about the value of this loan. Also if he's just playing as sub (2starts, 3 subs) what Warburton really thinks about him, does he see him as a show boat and is oduwa applying himself enough or just seeing this as a bit of a laugh. Hopefully he is treating it with respect and able to get value out of this as would love to see him really make it with us

I was concerned about this loan at the outset

The good points are that he is learning to play in front of a very big crowd with a good manager/coach and is playing with a few good players - the bad point is the standard of opposition means that he is just walking straight through them, albeit sometimes they have to foul him a lot to stop him.

The question in my mind come next summer, is will Poch think it a good enough test to include Oduwa in the squad next season if he has a decent pre-season ? This season he seemed to be tearing apart the championship sides we faced in 'behind closed door' games and did well, but was not taken on any of the showpiece matches, much to my displeasure, as he had earned a place on the bench for those matches. So he's playing well against the opposition he's been put in front of - but is that enough, and if that's not enough for Poch we should have found him a more taxing loan.

In a way, this could be a good loan. We don't want him to lose his flair and ability to beat a man - when looking at the senior squad, we have quite a few attackers/wide men but (apart from the new signings) they are not too good at actually beating a player in a one on one situation.

He is getting targeted but is still playing his game. He needs to develop more end product, which might be why Warburton is not starting him every game, but I hope he becomes a regular starter and also hope we have a recall in January in case we want to test him at a higher level.

Totally agree with this point.
For me, a player that plays with flair, skill and trickery is a player with confidence - when you take that away, you force the player to become something that they're not and subsequently they often don't play so well.
Just look at Lamela (whom i'm still a big fan of.........I know i'm probably in the minority), when he first joined he had a bit of swagger about him, a bit of cockiness to try stepovers, drag-backs and rabonas, whereas now he looks a shadow of that player, forced to play it very simple and by the book!

I agree that Oduwa needs to learn from this experience/loan, but at the end of the day he can only play what's put in front of him, and if he DOES find it that easy then we should be applauding him because it prob means we've got a real player on our hands!! (y)

My worry about his loan is he is playing in a league with a lot of talentless thugs let's hope he does not come back with a neverous disposition or injured. Lots of terrible challenges on him and ball.

You're right, those that can't handle his speed or skill will go for the easier option of just taking him out.
However, it'll be good to see how he handles this - as there are 'thugs' at all levels, just look at Charlie Adams......just a downright nasty footballer!
I hope he comes through well though.
