Had it up with the Leicester match and as expected he looked good. Would rather bring Ward or Ball in to DM next year than buy someone like Wanyama.
Don't want Wanyama at all, plays without his head far too often. It will be interesting to see if and how Poch has room for Ball and CCV both, and if not which one is allowed to be loaned out (hopefully Championship for either).

Rangers defender Dom Ball: Loan spell at Ibrox can help me be Champions League star with Tottenham
THE defender has impressed for Rangers this season while on loan and hopes he can return to White Hart Lane a better player.

DOMINIC BALL believes his Rangers loan spell can fire him straight from the Championship to the Champions League.

The classy defender could be forgiven for feeling he is missing out as parent club Tottenham challenge for the Premier League title in England.

Spurs are hot on the heels of surprise leaders Leicester but look a shoo in to claim a top four spot – and a place in next year’s Champions League.

Ball has another year left on his contract at White Hart Lane and is determined to make his mark when he gets back from his stint in Scotland.

The 20-year-old insisted he’s lapping up ever minute of his time with Rangers and the experience will give him the chance to impress Mauricio Pochettino.

Ball, who impressed in the Scottish Cup stalemate with Kilmarnock on Saturday, said: “It’s exactly what Spurs wanted and it’s what I wanted as well.

“I speak to a guy called Paul Brush every couple of weeks and we talk about the games.

“He watches my clips and they just say how things are going off the pitch too.

“It’s nice to know they’re looking out, games on TV here is good exposure for me.

“It’s to come and get games, I’ve played 19 or 20 games in front of 50,000 against good opposition with good players.

“I think I’ve grown up massively, living on my own, that’s massive for me. I’ve matured on and off the pitch and just being in the changing room with first team players.

“At Spurs I wasn’t. I really like having coaches who are pushing you.

“My contract is up at the end of next season. I feel I can go back and challenge. I want to focus on the next game and keep pushing on.”

Ball believes the man in charge at Spurs is a perfect match for his style.

The youngster is at ease at centre back or in midfield - and can also play full back when called on.

He’s a modern defensive player who can adapt as he goes along.

Ball’s is hoping it will help him follow in the footsteps of fellow Spurs loan stars who were sent out before coming back to claim regular roles in the first team.

He said: “The manager is brilliant there. He probably knew it was best for me to go out and get some game time.

“You look at the players there – Ryan Mason, Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Harry Kane – and pretty much the whole team has been on loan.

“You come back and play when you’re ready. He will decide when they’re ready.

“The style of play he wants and the mentality is brilliant. I know that is going to benefit me.

“I like to train to improve. Every day I go into Murray Park I’m trying to improve so when I go on the pitch it’s a product of the hard work I’ve been doing.

“I always work hard and I think it’s showing.”

Ball has impressed in recent weeks in a golding role but may be required to slot back in to the defence after Rob Kieran pulled up late on in the Killie draw with a calf strain.

The centre half later tweeted the damager was not as bad as first feared but he is still a doubt for Alloa this weekend and the Rugby Park replay next midweek.

Ball is ready to step in but said: “Hopefully Rob’s not too bad because he’s been brilliant for us.”

Would be great if he became feasible option for back-up DM. Would soften the blow of Veljkovic leaving.

So how's he been playing recently?

Played 90 minutes today in the DM role. Rangers won 4-0 against Dundee, several Rangers fans forums suggesting its the best they have played for several years - Ball mentioned by some fans as having a great game.

Rangers manager Mark Warbuton after the match :

"We put on a really pleasing performance from the first whistle. "We set out tempo and intensity and got the early goal.
"But it was all round the park we performed. We were defensively strong. That's seven clean sheets in nine matches.
"A lot is made of our forward play but don't forget that is a tremendous statement by the back five. It was a really good day's work."

Dominic Ball has started 5 games as DM. 3 Wins 1 Draw 1 Loss Conceded (3) Clean Sheets (3)
While I'm sure everyone would have loved to have Veljkovic at DM, I'd be more than happy with Ball next year who, while not as talented as MV I think is a very good player who could play PL football for us and be back up to Dier. Wouldn't surprise me if he did just as well

@RangersCulture streets ahead of Halliday in that position

Dominic Ball is making the holding midfielder role his own. Would love to see him stay at Rangers.
@ForzaPapac You would never know he's a centre-half playing in there. He strolled it.
@ForzaPapac was best player on park today, set pace early on. Really impressed today.
@ForzaPapac motm for me today
@ForzaPapac when he plays there we are a better team, much, much better. Superb performance today, we player the Gers
@ForzaPapac superb today, totally dominated the midfield and Fat Hardskin never got a look in

This man is developing into a fantastic young player. I'd pay good money to sign him

Dougie Wright‏@dougie_wright
@WindyCOYS Ball was superb in midfield today. Very dominant defensively and rarely gave the ball away.

How'd he get on?

they won the cup with an easy 4-0 win

Daily Record
Dominic Ball...7

Shielded his back four and didn’t much about the ball in a tight midfielder area.

Scotsman
DM - Dominic Ball - 7

Did a solid job sitting in front of the back four, which enabled Wilson and Kiernan to split out further in defence, helping Rangers to dominate possession in the manner we’ve become accustomed to.

Would love to see us try this kid out in Dier's role next season.

Can't say I've seen much of this kid play either with us or in Scotlands 2nd teir but I ask genuinely, has he been good enough to say he can make the jump to playing premier league next season?

My guess is that Poch will have a good look at him pre-season. Might be worth calling him back now, as Rangers have won promotion and the cup, so that he can been judged by Poch training around the first team squad

I doubt Rangers would be happy with that. They still have another cup to play for, and it's against Celtic.

If he were able to step up it would remove the need to sign a DM. It wouldn't be so much a question of whether he's better than Carroll, Mason and Bentaleb, but more a question of is he more useful. Given that they're all quite similar and none offers what Dier does, if Ball can cut it at premiership level then it's worth thinking about.

I suspect Ball still has one more loan left before he gets a real shot to break into the first team - Scottish second division to Premier League football is a huge step.
