Luton were upset 1-0 by Mansfield.

From Luton OS: "John Still made two changes at half-time, bringing on Shaun Whalley and Nathan Oduwa, replacing Matt Robinson and Jake Howells and after the break, both teams came out looking to raise the pace. Early on, Jayden Stockley came close to putting Oduwa through with a clever reverse pass but was blocked by a Masfield defender. Oduwa, who looked sharp and hungry throughout the second half then made a run along the byline on the left of the goal but couldn’t quite deliver a killer cross. Likewise, Whalley made a nuisance of himself out on the left and the side looked more dangerous as a result.

...

With ten minutes to go, and the Mansfield crowd showing their frustration, the Stags tried to break down the Hatters defence. An attack built down the left hand side but Oduwa and Harriman tracked back with the ball eventually going out for a corner to Mansfield amounting to nothing."

The Luton fans really seem to have taken to him quickly which is nice to see. Highlights from Twitter:

Oduwa has been a constant threat, dropping him is strange indeed.

No Oduwa?!! Ffs

Already Oduwa reaches the byline and gets a cross over. Could argue this is the side Luton should have started with.

Well, it did get better. Or less worse. Needed to give Oduwa & Guttridge more ( actually any) of the ball.

Seen the team and the result, seems incredibly negative to leave out Oduwa

McGeehan & Oduwa must start.

Thank god I only live 25 mins from Mansfield, poor performance, looked slightly better when Oduwa came on, Gutteridge needs more time #COYH

And from an Oxford fan: Oduwa was unbelievable against us. Every time he picked up the ball I had my head in my hands.

The good thing is that he's showcasing himself well for a future League 1 or Championship loan.

U16 result - without Sterling (played u18's) , Edwards (??) or Bennetts (playing E u17). Remarkable set of forwards in that age group. Thought Jack Roles was a no 10 - but maybe playing striker now with that level of goals ?

Cheers for the info SI but shouldn't this be in the youth team thread?

I asked a guy at work about him who is a ST holder at Luton who said that he was being used mainly as an impact sub as he is pretty rapid and tricky - particularly useful against tired legs.

All true but think Luton would do better to play him for full games - any defence will be scared of him at any point in the game, and he's a big lad used to playing at a high tempo so not likely to tire.

The more he plays the better his development too.

Thought the same thing he can handle it and would be a lot better for his game if he had more responsibility throughout the match

This is exactly what hurt Coulthirst's development and Mpoku's both at the hands of Russell Slade and then Phil Brown

I just think its a load of bollocks, and would personally recall him. It hurts the players form and it also risk them not playing the player as if the wingers are having a good game, the managers tend not to do the sub so it ends up with the player on the bench and it looking like a bad loan move

I don't think that's true, he's played 6 games, started 3, a half-time sub in 2, and a 60' sub in one. Doesn't sound like an impact sub to me.

Don't think we can recall him as his loan is over 90 days, but I'm unsure if that also applied to youth loans.

I think its possible to include a break clause in youth loans (exerciseable by the player), providing its exerciseable after 30 days - not sure if that is Spurs standard or not but it has certainly been included in some in the past, I guess its included if the youngster feels that they are not comfortable on loan
