We've got to bite the bullit on that one some day soon...
This guy, obnoxious as he undoubtably is, is part of the ecosystem. So Levy's just got to take a few deep breaths, hold his nose and get in there.

It's probably better to deal with Mendes than Raiola at least.

IMO there's a very good player in there. Was disappointed when he went to Barca and then thought we would get Pereira. We ended up with Aurier. All depends on the fee I guess but I think he'd do well for us.

I honestly think we should be going in strongly for AWB... Even at the quoted media price of 50 million we should make a serious play for him.

If Trippier is being sold then we recoup half our outlay for a younger more defensively sound RB. I know United are strongly linked but I honestly believe we can compete on the fee and offer a competitive wage, which whilst united will blow us out on but would be a substantial increase on what he currently earns...

Edit. See this is why we need a scouting thread in here.

Agree completely. I wish think there's a lot of mileage in having a strong group of British developed players. It's worked for us over the last 10-15 years and worked for every teams that's tried it.
Get in AWB, Grealish (if AV don't go up) and Sessegnon.
Then we can add the couple of proven players we need as well.

First leg against Liverpool he was really good the second one, not so much. The difference was in the the first he defended in the second he had to go forward.

I know we are desparate for a right back but we should stay away from 2nd choices. Regardless of the team they played for.

We got burned by signing Aurier, we would be making the same mistake again.

Barca have Moussa Wague (20) coming through, who they bought last year and put in B team.

Presumably with an eye on eventually replacing whoever lost out between Sergi (27) and Semedo (25), as they enter peak years.

There's not THAT much in it between Sergi and Semedo imo in terms of quality or playing time - so it makes sense to promote Wague, keep squad harmony, and re-invest £30m in the team.

It's not like Barca would be getting rid of some terrible dud.

Roberto is from la masia as well. Always prioritised at Barcelona if the quality is there.

Barca probably need to trim the fat in some areas too, to pay for the De Jong, De Ligt and Griezmann moves. £25-30m for a rotation RB could be one such area iif they do have a youth prospect to step in.

Apparently Barca have run into a problem with de Ligt now. Read that Utd have given him a better financial offer and Raiola is using that to try to get more money from Barcelona. We'll see what happens in the end.

I'm actually surprised City aren't all over De Ligt, let alone Utd, but seeing as Barca pay the highest wages going you'd imagine they'll still get him.

How much are Barcelona willing to pay 'youngsters' though? I've always had the idea that they pay more as the player progresses at the club. Utd throws money at everything atm, offering 300k/w to Rashford being the latest example.

I'd usually agree with this but De Jong is reportedly getting between 250k-300k euros a week.

Fair enough. Though it seems like Nike agreed to help paying for him to begin with, I wonder how much that changed from what they would normally offer.

It does seem he is available and there is interest from England and with Trippier off this makes a lot of sense. I think he is the player we hoped Aurier would be but isn’t.

The thing is we don’t really know what Aurier is like, other than another injury troubled player. Not very often does a player fit straight in when from abroad and then have to settle for rotation every week.

We know he’s a bit of a hot head due to a night in the sell, and has suffered a couple of injuries, but his performance has been better than last season.

I'd pass up on Semedo. We need a full back that can defend first and foremost. We've seen this season that Tripp doesn't cut it defensively and made several individual mistakes costing goals and points.

I've actually heard/read that Semedo is better defensively than he is offensively.
