David Button has a signed a new contract committing his future to the Club until 2013.‬‪

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has enjoyed a successful season, having made his senior Spurs debut in our Carling Cup second round tie at Doncaster Rovers in August, 2009, as well as spending time on loan in League Two with Crewe Alexandra and Shrewsbury Town.

David kept two clean sheets in his opening three games for Crewe, playing a total of 10 matches. He enjoyed further success on moving on loan to New Meadow in January, recording nine shut-outs in his 26 appearances for The Shrews.

This is odd - I am sure he was already under contract to 2013. Perhaps improved conditions? They must rate the lad.

A friend of mine is from Shrewsbury and he was very impressed with him. He would go back up north every other weekend and he said he always got good reviews in the local paper. Was confused when he read we were looking at new keepers as he said that Button would be good enough to be Gomes' number 2.

He's gotta be an improvement on Alnwick.....

Didn't we pay good money for Alnwick too? Shame he never made the grade but Gomez is still young in keeper terms anyway, so any keeper (including Button) is obviously only likely to be backup anyway like you all say.
