Good move.
LB is BD, DR, ZF
RB is KW, KN and RF
Feel very comfortable with that grouping

Now on to CB, which is looking interesting if ED is in

Thing is that not long ago Rose told that unless he's playing regularly in the 1st team he'll leave. It will be hard for him to oust Davies from the LB berth. Maybe he's had a change of mind (about 1st team football)
This is a test of Poch' judgment of players' potential indeed.

Very disappointed with this, his attitude is abhorrent and I was hoping we would get shot.

Where does this 'bad attitude' thing come from?

It relates to when he said that he wanted to play and not spend another season in the reserves. He wants to play, that's a good attitude, the opposite of David Bentley.

Rose has only played left back for two seasons and is improving.

It's nearly a rule of thumb now to be really skeptical of the prevailing opinion of a player on here. Usually, it is the understandable over-rating of a player when he really isn't all that a club's own fans make out - see previously for BAE, Sandro, and somewhat for Vertonghen.

But in this case, there's far too many harsh critics of Rose. I've seen plenty of games when he's been our side's man-of-the-match. Last season was a weird one, with many trouncing and other games won when we weren't really at it. Rose was not to blame for all or most of the negative stuff, though you wouldn't get that impression on here.

He can be erratic from game to game, but that doesn't mean his good performances are to be dismissed. Walker is erratic too. But they both have the tenacity and engine to really dominate their flanks and will hopefully gain consistency with experience.

A five year deal under the new manager is a massive boost for him personally. Same duration as Lloris and the manager himself. Good luck to him. I wonder if any of them will still be here in 2018/19.

Just out of interest could you name a couple of the games you saw when he was man of the match for us??

Sorry I just think that sort of comment is so easy to make without actually backing it up

Play crap all this season, have a terrible attitude, but dont worry, at the end of the year you will get a new shiny 5 year contract. Shocking

The references to his 'attitude' are based on bullshit, really: all it comes down to is his rather blunt way of stating, more than once, that he wants to be at a club where he can play every week. There's nothing 'bad attitude' about that, it's commonplace, but he has tended to say it in a bullish manner, especially last summer, when he was still high on his successful loan to Sunderland. People who already have set opinions about him will interpret his every comment about his career as evidence of a 'bad attitude', irrespective of what he says and its context.

So what is going on here, as far as the club is concerned? Pochettino has been very plain that he wanted to assess every player in the squad before signing new ones. And the first player we signed was a left back. Danny Rose has been plain that he wants to be first choice at his position. And he has signed a new contract almost immediately after we acquired competition for his position.

I'd have to conclude that Pochettino has seen enough to convince himself that he can rectify Rose's flaws, or that he intends to move him to another position (I suspect that it is the former) and that he has managed to reassure Rose that he will, at least, have a level chance to compete for the job with Davies.

The criticism of Rose here is ridiculously overstated. His main bad habit is that he looks like he isn't hurrying when he tracks back. Given Pochettino's reputation for requiring ferocious pressing from all of his players, I reckon he and Rose have discussed this by now and that Rose has satisfied the manager that he can and will do something about this.

If we furnish Rose (or Davies) with a proper left winger with whom he can overlap and who can give him some cover, it will be much less of a problem anyway: last season he often had Eriksen nominally on the left, which means that he spent most of every match with no defensive assistance whatsoever.

I don't agree with those who say he tackles badly. He has a fierce and usually-legal tackle and he uses it freely - I have always thought that this is what provoked Redknapp to turn him into a left back. He also has a temper and his tackling gets sloppy and illegal when he starts to get riled, rarely otherwise.

He could usefully improve his crossing, but it isn't really the quality of his crosses that is a problem, it's their timing: he often waits too long before delivering and crosses into a crowd of well-marked attackers.

The rest of his game is capable and his defects are rectifiable with good coaching. As long as he understands that he'll be in competition for his place, shows more eagerness when he is caught upfield and grows up a little bit, he should make a good left back.

In addition to LB Danny can also occupy a slot in the CM two or the AM three. A very useful squad player.

not saying i agree but maybe poch sees an option for cover at both left back and further forwrd, as with u21s and olympic team (as i recall, may be wrong on that as didnt pay too much attention to olympics). better to extendthan shell out cash on a back up player.

Personally, I love his attitude. Could have taken an any easy move to be a biggish fish in a smallish pond somewhere else. Instead, wants to fight for a place at our Club.
What's not to like about that?
Whether he has the ability is another matter but the Club have seriously backed him.

1st season playing prem football he got player of the year for Sunderland. Still marking he same players. The next year he was 1st choice for a Spurs team with a midfield who hardly knew each other, as well as an injury. And a change of management staff. Yes he didnt have a great season but only a handful did. Is he too old to get better? He is also 2nd choice and as a youth player probably one of the lowest paid players in the team. Give the boy a chance...

Coaches see a player week in /out,fans just see mistakes.
Poch might just make an above average player out of the lad.
And of course fans will laud or damn as is there whim.

I am truly dumbfounded but not ashamed of comments i have read as we all have our opinions.
He wasn't the best player we had last season neither was he the worst.
Ok we signed BD, so you don’t believe we need cover in that position. With 2 LB in the squad Vert definitely is assured he won’t be covering that position this season, assurance that the club definitely see vert at CB.
Back to Danny Rose, Last season was his first full season at spurs..... he stared the season well but injury and change of management resulting in average second half of the season.
Shame on you guys for not even giving a spurs player representing your club a chance to show his worth, Shame on you for not trusting the new manager judgement.

I was thinking about Sunderland, Fulham and Stoke toward the end of last year - those games were close to each other and I was impressed with him. I just checked, and one review site gave him man-of-of-the match against Stoke and in the last day game against Villa. I didn't watch that one.
