Unbelievable. I cannot see the logic here. Last season showed he is a disaster as a full back. Maybe he can do something further forward. This is a very bad move.

I was thinking about Sunderland, Fulham and Stoke toward the end of last year - those games were close to each other and I was impressed with him. I just checked, and one review site gave him man-of-of-the match against Stoke and in the last day game against Villa. I didn't watch that one.

I think that's fair enough, was not one of those games where he lost his head because of the crowd reaction and was subbed at half time???

And possibly other players in our team had slacked off at that point or knew Tim was gone so perhaps he looked better???

I don't have much against him really I just don't see a player that will ever be good enough for a want to be champs league team and also don't see him being happy as second choice

Fair enough. I think he's ok and could get better. He can defend and contrary to many opinions on here, I htink he's got a decent tackle and presses pretty strongly against his winger (as DM has mentioned) - and this is a stark contrast to BAE's more stand-offish approach to getting closer to his man.

And I'd assume he's not getting such a long contract because Poch doesn't rate him. He's not as bad as many on here claim. That doesn't mean he's a world beater. And I'm assuming he wont start the first game of the season, but may well make the place his own in a good battle with Davies.

He's good enough in my book and will improve. I think people forget that he was a left winger first not a defender and maybe Poch may feel he is useful as addtional cover in the left forward wide position.

Dear Official Site

I think this article was supposed to be published on 1st April not 1st August.

The references to his 'attitude' are based on bullshit, really: all it comes down to is his rather blunt way of stating, more than once, that he wants to be at a club where he can play every week.

As long as he understands that he'll be in competition for his place, shows more eagerness when he is caught upfield and grows up a little bit, he should make a good left back.

Great comments as ever David, but it's a bit excessive to say the 'bad attitude' comments are based on 'bullshit'. As you pointed out, Rose needs to understand that he has to compete for his place and grow up - i.e. grow up by recognizing that no footballer should expect to be automatic choice, whatever club he's at.

I have to say I have been impressed with Danny's attitude during the summer tour of North America. When Ben Davis came on board, you can see Rose rising to the challenge. He made full blooded tackles in Toronto and Chicago, unlike the tepid ones typical of pre-season games. He and Hotby were perhaps the outstanding players in an otherwise boring game in Chicago.

Please only as a squad player, NEVER first choice as he is not top class.

From the interview Poch gave on Ben Davis it seems Danny is first choice with Ben bought to compete with him for the spot.

Back to Danny Rose, Last season was his first full season at spurs..... he stared the season well but injury and change of management resulting in average second half of the season.
Shame on you guys for not even giving a spurs player representing your club a chance to show his worth, Shame on you for not trusting the new manager judgement.

Last season was supposed to be Rose's breakthrough season after impressing on loan at Sunderland and with BAE's demise. It was Rose's first full season as first choice, and competition in that spotted amounted to Naughton (a RB), Verts (a CB who moaned whenever played at LB) and Fryers (still developing).

It's fair to say Rose didn't shine last term but lack of competition and an injury did their bit, as did the rest of the team being poor and the resulting upheaval and lack of confidence.

I was happy when we signed Davies but an also happy Rose has been extended. Poch's remit is to improve our players through coaching and I think he can improve Rose, as will competition with Davies.

Davies is more defensive so we'll prob see him away to Liverpool but at home to (say) Hammers when we'd be expecting to attack more then Rose might be preferred. I don't think this summer is the time to give up on either him or Naughton.

It relates to when he said that he wanted to play and not spend another season in the reserves. He wants to play, that's a good attitude, the opposite of David Bentley.

Rose has only played left back for two seasons and is improving.
Totally agree.

I kept faith with Danny for a long time, hoping he'd properly come good. After last season though, I've come to accept that he's probably never going to be quite up to par for us - although perfectly decent for a mid-table side. He stormed it on loan remember. AAMOF, he's nowhere near as shit as our fans make out - but apparently we always need a scapegoat, and Danny just about won that role over Daws last season.

But "bad attitude"? Nah. He's expressed a desire to play EPL football. That's fair enough IMO. He could be first choice at Hull etc, and personally, he'd go with my best wishes and thanks for his efforts.

You want a bad attitude? Look at our previous LB. More technically gifted by miles, but boy has he got shit between the ears...
