One of my colleagues used to work at a hospital in Liverpool and is a fan of Liverpool and loves Gerrard on the pitch but, off the pitch he is a completely wanker apparently. They had 7 or 8 Liverpool players at the hospital and the only player not to sign autographs for the people who were ill in the hospital was Gerrard and anyone else who want one from him was told to go away.

Surprised to hear that, my brother has met him a few times, as well as the chelsea players, who he meets at every away game in the CL.
His take is, that Gerrard is one of the only guys who has time for the staff, and is always a good lad, polite, fun etc..

It's a longshot, but I'd nominate myself. So far, there has never been a Jewish England captain, and these days it's important to promote diversity. I'm quite lazy, smoke too much and I'm chronicly unfit. I will admit that I've never played professional football, but I think people need to look beyond that. I'm rarely out on the piss, I'm not racist, and I'd be good with the media.
