Yes, a squad they could not afford and the reason why they were demoted to the 4th tier
Creative accounting that destroyed millions of pensions all over Italy because of the way the owners siphoned money from Parmalat to the club.

The Golazzo podcast, with James Richardson, Horncastle and Gab Marcotti, did a very good pod on the rise and fall of Parma a few weeks ago.

I always had a soft spot for Parma after a good "save" on a copy of CM2 Italian League (with Motty commentary) I got from Dixons bargain bin in about 20 years ago. Zola, Asprilla, Benarrivo etc.

Went off them a bit when they became that team that had about 600 players out on loan.

I love Juve but I have a sneaking suspicion that with all the deals that Juve & Parma did as part owners, that Juve screwed of Parma big time. I might be wrong but I know they were once very close and did a lot of deals with players etc...

I thought Parma went bankrupt because of the Parmalat affair.

Nothing to do with that, they got screwed over by their own owners who were absolute crooks. They were fiddling the books for years and eventually got caught and went to prison for all kinds of fraud and market rigging offenses. Completely bankrupted Parmalat and the club ruining many people's lives in the process.

Deducted 5 points before the season starts and their striker Calaio has been banned for two years for match fixing.
