Contractors for the government-backed Crossrail scheme are struggling to find mechanical and electrical workers for a final push to complete the project because so many have moved to Tottenham’s new stadium site.

And?
I'm sure if we weren't doing this, then Crossrail would cause a shortage themselves for other area's.

I guess we pay better.

Crossrail only pay electricians PAYE with none of the benefits of PAYE (holiday pay, pension, sick pay) and all of the negatives (higher tax, higher N.I, no job security).
You also have to get expensive rail passes that you have pay for out of your own pocket.
That is why crossrail can’t get any sparks

That's a good omen. We'll cause the rest of the world all sorts of trouble after we move in. Shitty,Manure or Cesspool will all succumb to us.

Well I really don't understand the government at all. They cut so many apprenticeships and just fully focused getting the next generation into financial debt chasing useless degree's at weak universities.

There's thousands of inner city teens and young adults the government have let down.....BADLY.

There's more investment in training and apprenticeship in construction at the moment than in the 20 years. We had the late 90's and early 2000 where no investment was made.

All major projects in London are required to a percentage of the workforce to be apprenticeship, training, local labour, SME procurement etc. as part of S106 agreements. Crossrail require each contractor to employ an apprentice for every £3m of the value of each project. What's the value of Crossrail...£14bn? That's a lot of apprenticeships! Look at the work Tottenham are doing with training and apprenticeships!

Finally, the next generation are being given a chance.
