Took a look over the platform wall at the station to see whether there has been any progress on the redevelopment there. No work done as yet but site office portacabins are there plus plenty of materials - rebar etc. There was also the following sample of what will clad the station when built:

The west stand entrance really is virtually on the road. They’re going to have to have barriers up all along that side of the road for anti terrorism measures which is going to reduce space further. Necessary but a bit annoying.
Why not close the road to non essential traffic on match days?

In theory that'd be great, but have a look on google maps at the area - there's really no practical alternative without sending motors on a crazy diversion - once you get off the main roads, the side roads around north London just aren't designed for traffic more than the residents.

Guessing this was not posted here last week.
Antonio Neri, CEO of HPE, visiting our stadium last week....

Would CEO of 28billion $USD revenue tech company visit the under construction stadium building just for being a tech partner ???;)

Its not even a month since he took over as their CEO....

@AntonioNeri_HPE
When sport meets tech, great things happen. For @SpursOfficial, that means connectivity across a new venue thanks to @ArubaNetworks solutions with support from @HPE Pointnext. The stadium will be one of the most technologically advanced ever and will be in a league of its own.

Maybe, but it could just be that he was in london and was invited. Spurs have had links with hp for a good while. Interesting though and it is very possible.

New CEO of HP visits just 15 days after taking over. And our club kept this quiet...Not one word or picture for 8 days now

As i said it's very possible. It is possible that we invited him as a possible sponsor for the stadium which he said no to, possible sponsor for part of the stadium, trying to sell him a box, as a partner who is supplying work on the new stadium.

I'll wait and see before claiming they are the naming rights sponsor.

My memory is fading, but I thought HP has been on board as the IT partner in the new stadium - a long time ago.

Certainly, they could be stepping up to a larger role, and I would not necessarily expect the CEO to tour the stadium if it was really just a limited partnership.

This was from last summer:

HPE selected as key partner in the Club’s technology ecosystem for its new stadium

LONDON, United Kingdom, July 11, 2017 — Tottenham Hotspur today announced it has selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) as its official IT networking and Wireless Infrastructure Partner. The Club is currently building a new, world-class stadium in London. Set to open in 2018, it will be one of the most technologically advanced stadia ever built, delivering an enhanced event day experience for all visitors.

We barely ever play the opening day of the season at home anyway lol.

It is a very peculiar thing. I checked, ready to debunk this, but it is true. Out of the past 13 seasons, we have had a home match for the first league game only twice, in successive years: 2009/10 and 2010/11. Random patterns throw up anomalies.

Why not? Have you never worked as a contractor on a site? Senior management will sometimes visit. Good for relations for both customer and staff especially if they are new. They also familiarise themselves with what is going on and gets them out of the office.

They may well be our new naming rights sponsor and i'd be fairly happy with that. We'll see.

Yep, and one of the seasons I believe we had Everton and that was called off because of the riots I think. Not sure if you've included that in that statistic.

It's the A10, a major route in and out of London. There are no alternative routes, other than minor residential roads, which would have cause local outrage, as well as gridlock. Closing the road, as a strategy, would never have got planning consent.

I amended that when it happened, so I have included that in the 11 "away" seasons. Our first actual league match that season was away to Man Utd on 22 Aug 2011. The riots lasted until 11 August.

No really a "scheduling" thing though. We were scheduled to be home first, and the fixture happened to be postponed at short notice.

I don't accept that it is random though, I'm not saying it's a conspiracy but some algorithm or other throws this up too often to be an anomaly, something that is entered into the programme on a regular basis must increase the odds significantly and so it happens regularly. Logic dictates that there is a reason for it and that can't have escaped the Premier League's notice, if it has it must have been pointed out, I just don't think they have ever bothered to look for it.
I don't remember it ever being the case in years gone by in what one might call the "old days"
