This is most likely me being really stupid and it may have been mentioned and shot down before but is there likely to be any side effects with regards to the bounce of the ball due to having a retractable pitch? I know it’s not going to be like Monoco who have a underground car park underneath their pitch but I was wondering if we have any comparisons we can draw on with other stadiums.

I don't see that there would be a problem, with a traditional pitch the bounce of the ball isnt affected by any depth more than a couple of inches anyway, even if you say six inches which is way deeper than the likely depth then we have plenty to spare.

Last 2 pix. Won’t bore you with more.
The view of the players’ tunnel shows how wide it is.

If you want, start a new thread and put all your images into it.
I can then merge it with the stadium pic thread and everyone can see them if they want, and talk about them in here

Went to Tunnel Club event tonight. Pix to follow this weekend.

For those who haven’t been inside, the stadium is truly awesome. No bias just because its Spurs. Simply in a league of its own. Majestic but intimate, classy but still, at heart, a proper football venue. Brought a tear to my eye. The pitch is the most beautiful green I’ve ever seen.

The Tunnel Club itself takes ‘premium’ to a different level. I won’t say more than that.

The only thing is that I formed the impression Newcastle on Feb 2nd is not a ‘slam-dunk’. It’s only going there you see how truly BIG it is and how hundreds of millions of pounds have been spent. There’s still A LOT to be done. All internal. The pitch and seats finished. It’s the parts you can’t see they’re still working like crazy on. But I was told CL round 16 mid Feb is definitely a serious deadline now, IF before isn’t possible.

More tomorrow. Too drunk and elated to continue.

It's been said before but how was it ever thought possible to be ready for the Liverpool game if there is still a LOT to be done. We are all being refunded on STs purchased no problem with that but saying " its going to be ready, its not going to be ready " is now all being reflected in poor attendances at Wembley. The Southampton game on the upper tier must have been a poor experience for those there and more of the same for the next three games on the upper tier. .

Because it doesn't need to be finished to hold a football match. It just has to get it's safety certificate.

It does depend on what is meant by a " lot ". If parts of the hospitality areas were not ready and there have been photos of wires hanging from unfinished ceilings etc in various areas including the dressing rooms , I don't see how they could have opened in September if all the promised facilities were not completed and ready to function.

Why are some people under the impression that the pitch is mounted on the equivalent of a piece of paper?

9,000 tonnes the plates weigh all together. It ain't going, or giving, in any direction. It's no different to a normal pitch.

9 MILLION Kilograms.

Because they aren't necessary to hold a football match as Lilbaz said.

Of course the pitch will react differently and nobody knows exactly how

It’s wheeled in on trays ffs

I bet you the old pitch was much much heavier!!!

But they are necessary when all the pre season publicity has been about high level dining, Michelin star chefs , the H club, the Tunnel Club etc etc etc. Various sources kept saying that it was not going to be ready and they were right and we are still being told there is a lot to do.

It takes two minutes to tuck a wire in.

What part of the old pitch is heavier? All the earth beneath it? Where do you stop?

There only need to a certain level of depth and mass below the pitch for it to behave as expected. Any more depth and mass makes no difference.

By the way, the glass between Tunnel Club and tunnel itself is one way. So we can see players but they won’t be distracted by our ugly leering mugs !
I have a critical question for you. Is the stadium crooked in any shape or form to you? ?

Great stuff!
