these are concrete piles for ground stabilization, these steel rods will be cut to the ground and then will go rebar cage, similar things i'm doing in Poland.

Yeah that's in the plans. Along with the gates that were removed for storage on Bill Nicholson Way.

If you check any of the overhead pictures from the last 20 pages (e.g. the one on SpursIdol's post on this page) it is fairly intuitive that around half of the main structure can be completed without demolishing any of the current stadium but the first existing stand 'in the way' is the Paxton
Cheers Adam. I can see how that works I just can't see how losing just a corner of the stand will make such a big difference to the new development that the club are willing to cut capacity for a season rather than wait until we move out?

Have a look through skyscrapercity thread someone did a picture of how it will work. Can't be arsed sifting through the last 20 pages or so.

The brief answer is that the new South stand will be the retractable pitch end and therefore is essentially a "standalone" part of the of the stadium. By knocking down the NE corner of current stadium it then allows us to build everything apart from the South stand (at least at the foundation / structural level). That then gives us one full season to knock down the whole of WHL and finfish the whole site build.

Got it, thank you. (y) With this and @Adam456's reply it all starts to makes sense!

Anyway, apparently there was a game on last night :cautious:

Saw these from a few miles away and grabbed a pic. Took me ages to verify that these were our cranes but I'm 90% sure they are. The building to the left seems to the new Rivers Apartments building on the Cannon Road site.

Since the cranes are so big they should be easily visible from many places. If you've taken any photos, or found any, I'd like to see them. How tall is the stadium going to be? Don't think it's going to be tall enough to see the stadium from this view point, perhaps I'll have to convince the council to take a few meters off the tops of the trees

So exciting still. A reminder that our performance this year is really a bonus - it's the next 25 years we should really be getting excited about.

I love going back in this thread to the announcement date and reveal of the new stadium - the sense of shocked joy we all felt at how much better this design was than anything we expected, and so much better than the old one, is still heartwarming to read back.

You will be able to see the stadium from space. It will also be so immense it will block out radio signals and drop Highbury into permanent shadow

Apologies if already posted but I just saw this on skyscraper city. Imagine if we managed to delay Chelsea's stadium by a year!!!

From the times:

Spurs can beat Chelsea in Wembley race

Tottenham Hotspur are close to securing a deal to play all their home matches at Wembley during the 2017-18 season which could lead to Chelsea delaying their proposed move to the national stadium by 12 months.
Tottenham’s redevelopment plans are at a more advanced stage than those of their London rivals, as they received planning permission to build a new 61,000 capacity stadium from Haringey council in December and the redeveloped White Hart Lane is due to open in the summer of 2018, which has enabled them to move ahead of Chelsea in the race to secure Wembley.
Tottenham have indicated during negotiations with the FA that they are willing to share Wembley with Chelsea for one season, but the west London club would prefer exclusive use and are becoming increasingly resigned to postponing their own move.
Chelsea submitted a planning application in December for the construction of a 60,000 stadium and are hopeful of being given the go-ahead later this summer, but Hammersmith and Fulham council are understood to regard it as a complex case and consent is not guaranteed due to a number of unresolved issues regarding road and rail access to what is a highly residential area around the Fulham Road.

The article says that we are causing the delay to Chelsea because they don't want to share. In reality, and based on our experience, it always seemed optimistic to suggest they would be so far along to want Wembley at the same time we do.

I agree, but it would be much more fun if we were causing the delay:)

It seems to me that Chelsea havnt even started negotiating for Wembley. When we started we had various proposals and a clear timeline, we have Stratford and the MK stadium as options plus we need to move now that work has started. You don't go to a negotiation without a clear set of consequences and an offer with which to make the deal, and the fact that H+F council havnt even begun discussing proposals for access suggests CFC are years away. What options do they have apart from Wembley? What timeline are they actually on, as opposed to the PR one? What happens when the cranes show up at the bridge, do they even know the order in which stands will be demolished? Because it matters for heavy machinery.

CFC are all over the place on this. Not a chance in hell we will share, no amount of spin will change physics.

Chelsea are just trolling us. They've got years of planning approvals to meet, whilst Romans Billions might grease a few palms it's not going to be quick.
