I presume so that people can walk down the rows of seats easily. Despite it being a massive stadium we'll all still be packed in!

That's what i meant. If they were fixed they'd have to be further apart to allow movement.

So we can have each row closer to each other thus the fans closer to the pitch.

The current seats (old) seats weren’t folding. I can’t actually think of a modern stadium with folding seats tbh including Wembley. We’ve been sold the idea of more leg room also. It was merely an observation.

WHL had folding seats. Where were you sitting - an Exec box in the West Stand?

Image of WHL seats folded can be found here:

Wembley also has folding seats:

I cannot actually think of any football stadium (old or modern) that does not have folding seats.

As pointed out previously, seats have to fold to enable access.

I bought my seat from east lower/shelf WHL, it’s folding and annoyingly is in two parts. Also, I had a family friend used to work at Spurs and had a box seat in the west upper. Folding with cushioned seat!

There may have been fixed seats in some areas, I sat in all the stands over the years and they all folded. Maybe disabled or easy access? Whatever they decide, standing/folding rail seats are the future and I’ll happily go wherever they are located

Edit - a downside of WHL folding seats was the nut and bolt used to shred my calves when jumping around. I still have a giant scar from the last Arsenal game, which is a source of pride
