In terms of the two most recent major football stadium openings in Britain, Wembley had:

1) An event for local residents to test the escalators, toilets and concourse facilities, with a couple of local teams playing mini-games on the pitch.
2) A charity game between the Geoff Thomas Foundation Charity XI and the Wembley Sponsors Allstars
3) An U21 friendly between England and Italy

With the capacity restricted to 60, 2/3rds of full capacity, for all of these.

The Emirates had:

1) An open day for shareholders and selected corporates to see and test the facilities
2) An open training session (capacity 20k)
3) A testimonial for Dennis Bergkamp (capacity 54k)

We can expect something similar to this to happen over the summer before the first competitive games there in September. I quite like the idea our first game being "for realsies" but it isn't particularly likely.
I was at the U21 game

Ahhh, I was there and honestly thought Pazzini was going to be a world-beater. Bentley also scored a decent free-kick.

Think it might be an open training session or a friendly with some legend etc...

It will have to be something spurs related in my onion.

Yeah, that'd be nice. Ideal would be a testimonial for Mason I reckon but might be hard to organise if we're not 1000% sure we'll have the place ready by early August at the latest for that so might have to wait until the next summer.

Wasn't there talk of a testimonial for Dawson? It's in the trust notes somewhere IIRC.

I may have imagined it though.

Maybe they'll lay a flat base on the nfl pitch temporarily and then lay the tracks on that thereby spreading the load and leaving the nfl pitch completely undamaged, that's what I'd do.
I like this as it acknowledges that modern nfl pitches aren't something that can be easily unzipped at will - with layers of sand and rubber infill, it is a permanent fixture.
For me, I'd have the nfl pitch in 3 trays - move them slightly to the side to expose the rails for the football pitch to roll in.
Actually scratch that - nfl would not feature in my stadium at all.

It was indeed mentioned, but they said it wasn't really possible while he's still under contract elsewhere due to the nature of modern image rights agreements.

If they bolt a huge magnet to the bottom of the real pitch, North pole down, and bury another one in the NFL pitch North pole up (have it level with the plastic and paint it green, no-one will notice)- then basically you've got your own anti-gravity floating pitch.
All you need to do is give it a quick push into position.

The video about the pitch says rails for the retractable pitch will be hidden safely beneath the NFL playing surface

Draft Gamma Ray at the Lane would be the stuff dreams are made of.

We should do a sweepstake on the price for 1 pint. £7 I reckon
I paid £6 for a pint of Gamma Ray at The Jugged Hare in central London a couple of weeks ago. I really hope we're not going to go above City prices in bloody Tottenham.

The new stadium is obviously about the future but they seem to be putting in effort to be a nod to the past too. Thus I think the first game there will be two 11s of youth team players and Spurs Legends. Fits in with the future/past feel.

Just staring at this North stand camera again - didn't it used to be dead centre? Have they shifted it over to the right a fraction? It doesn't seem symmetrical anymore, like we're two or three seats nearer the West stand.

Now they're clearing stuff away and moving some of the big generators, you can really see more of the details, but what is that happening on the ground in the south half of the stadium? Looks like they're putting in a pool! Sweet! :D

There appears to be some sort of entrance on to the pitch in the corner of the South and East (NFL entrance?), you can see the tunnel the middle of the West stand, where it belongs, and the big screen brackets can be seen clearly now up in the corners. It's really taking shape.
