I fully expect it to be a huge success but you've gone in a bit strong there. Plenty of examples in history of engineering balls ups and until it is fully installed and tested full scale there can be no 100% guarantees.
Thats why im more worried about the roof collapsing or the stand collapsing than the pitch!!

I jest. Seriously people WTF???
Just how much force do you think a player hits the floor with or a football?
This tray will be strong as fk. It'll be like an ant walking on a table. And I doubt the surface is gonna be just deep enough for stud and then jutted concrete underneath.
Christ some of you worry more than my mum.

What if the middle tray only rolls out half way? The goal is going to be in the middle of the pitch meaning only one team can score goals. Has this been taken into consideration? Or if it rolls out on to a discarded coke bottle causing it to rise and create a step in the pitch? This would give a height advantage to players on the higher tray whilst competing in aerial duels. What happens if someone accidentally flips a switch mid game and the left side of the pitch moves Heung Min Son into an offside position in the linesman’s line of view when techinically he’s still onside? What if the pitch comes out during an NFL game and wipes out a load of cheerleaders. You just know Donald Trump will tweet about that which reflect badly on our global audience.

All valid concerns which need to be addressed. Think of the cheerleaders.

I was gonna start a new thread (there doesn't seem to be one dedicated to the pitch), but I thought I'd run with it here instead.

I'm concerned (first world problems) that our grass pitch in the trays isn't going to be up to scratch in comparison to WHL in regard to drainage, patchiness and bounce of the ball.

I'm not a professional grounds man, just a fan wondering how the hell this is going to work.

Anyone else share this opinion?

One would think that the trays must have drainage holes , plant pots in the house & garden have drainage holes otherwise they get waterlogged. They have had a mini trial of the pitch at Hotspur Way so hopefully everything has been explored. If it doesn't work its goodbye NFL and we install a permanent grass pitch.

If you look at the interactive stadium map it's the front two rows which are effectively sealed off from the rest of the South Stand, with season tickets also not being sold there. I'm guessing the plans have changed slightly and it's the front two missing for the NFL.
They may have changed plans slightly , originally it said three in the stadium design document but like like you say they may have changed. At the moment the front rows of the South stand have not been installed as you can see from the live pictures there is a gap down to current ground level.

The new pitch may well be a a hybrid pitch same as used at WHL , http://www.dessosports.com/sports/football/football-projects/tottenham-hotspur-whl-stadium-uk

Never realised the minister for sport was a spurs fan. Actually quite surprised she is so open about it. Even puts it in her twitter bio and RT spurs tweets. If you support a club from a kid then you do can’t undo that. But imagine next season if we apply for safe standing and it’s approved after WBA been dismissed.

I'm sure any decision wont be based on her opinion.

I wouldnt have thought pitch is gonna be wheeling in and out when stadium is occupied. Surely that will done before and after an event.

I was hoping we could flick the switch a few times in game if required.

You know, catch a few offside as they play the ball into the box.

Not quite everything.

What if the gap underneath the pitch trays means that a bouncing ball will cause an echo, leading to jealousy amongst ducks?

They'll have a quack on hand to offer counselling.

Sorry...Couldn't help but drake the pi**

I am interested to see it in operation too, as I am not sure if the quoted 30mins related to rolling the turf pitch in and out or if it included all the work needed to get both pitches 'match ready'... you have the great big NFL goal to put up and take down and i bet the grounds men will be out with their forks having a good prod! in reality i would guess an hour or more from true start to finish but will be super impressed if its the 30mins THFC have been talking about.
Pull a bit of string and it’s sorted. Ship in a Bottle innit?
