A clampdown on standing? That's gonna go brilliantly. Just as well as the clampdown on the Yid word, the clampdown on ticket touts and the crackdown on clampdown in football I'm sure.

Working for the clampdown - what are we gonna do now?

Oh I know. We'll just invest several million quid in this totally untested system for growing our pitch on trays and we won't do any research beforehand. It doesn't matter that our grounds staff have won multiple awards for the pitch at OWHL. This time, we'll just take a flyer on a dangerous system that will injure our players and utterly ruin our performances at our otherwise-painstakingly-designed new home.

And a few fans will all have "my opinion", based on absolute fuck-all, and "my opinion" will of course be right and our several years of expert advice and research will be meaningless.

I have contended many times that people on SC habitually misuse the word "arrogant". A fan who reckons he knows more about the new pitch that the whole design team - that's arrogant. Not someone who thinks fools are fucking fools and says so bluntly.
I'm not so sure we should be quite so dismissive of concerns especially when your answer is a somewhat appeal to authority.

Mistakes get made in these types of decisions. Constantly.

I went through a poorly made pitch decision being a fan of the Houston Texans and they tested that system out as well and obviously you could apply the same line drop of "we'll just take a flyer on a dangerous system that will injure our players and utterly ruin our performances at our otherwise-painstakingly-designed new home." to their project as well except it turns out they did mess up.

Plus lets not act as if Levy wasn't somewhat bending over backwards to get the NFL here. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the pitch isn't as good as a natural pitch is in the other stadiums. I think it's fairly obvious compromises were made on our end to entice them to us.

Do I think it's going to be an absolute disaster? No. I don't. But do I think that this entire stadium build is going to go exactly 100% to plan and there won't be cock ups? No. I don't believe that either. I think having concerns is valid and shouldn't be so quickly derided and shot down.

In fact this whole pitch design is brand new is it not? I think it's fairly naive to think that we're going to do something brand new that no one else has done before and it's going to go over 100% with zero hitches.

I take your point, but in reality even if the playing surface is less than perfect, our squad should benefit as we will be the ones to practice and play on it the most.

I seriously doubt that injuries will result from playing on it and if it does prove to be the case the composition will be adjusted accordingly I dont think the seams will be an issue as that has been tested for ages not least at THFC's own training ground on a small pitch.

Really like the cladding so far, but it really does blend into the grey sky on a miserable day like today. Need a bit more blue in there!

You've missed my point entirely. And it's emphatically the opposite of an "appeal to authority". Of course the pitch could go badly wrong. FFS, I've worked in development for 20+ years. I know about shit going wrong when you try new systems!

There's nothing in my post that suggests things won't go wrong. That's not what it's about. It's about ignorance and arrogance and the hegemony of unsupported "opinion" over evidence.

Meh, the cladding does look better than in the concept drawings, but I still think it's going to look awfully dated in a 10 or 20 years. Just looks like a kind of cheap modern office block in most cities these days.

Yep. I would've preferred something similar to the Allianz Arena's cladding (although I realise the cost might have been prohibitive for us):

I’m pretty sure the cladding can be changed if we want too

Exactly it’s just panels that can be changed at any time. Once the oil money comes we can go the the gold and diamond finish. Although kind of agree on the blue. The photo I added last page I used the vivid filter and made some panels bit blue which I think looks cool. But as said really no big deal to lift few panels in future and put new ones in. Does anyone know why some are open like window flaps is there a practical reason for that ? Or it’s just aesthetic?
