Could always phone Nick Knowles and get the DIY SOS big build team in as a last resort.

The electrician in that show Billy Byrne is a Spurs fan.

I’ve watched a lot of Changing Rooms. They always look miles off with only half an hour to go, yet always pull it off.

I’m confident.

Same with Grand Designs and all garden/home/building/makeover programmes. They set every episode up with a false suspense-narrative about budget overruns and on-site disasters, so they can stage a carefully-timed resolution at the end of the hour. It's reality telly. It's bollocks.

Grand Designs innovated this particular form of bullshit. When I was building my house in 1999, they did an episode on some other self-builders nearby, acquaintances - we were using the same eco-contractor to do the major structural work that self-builders can't do. I knew what was really going on on their site, because I was always over there trying to drag some labour back to my own (smaller) build! The narrative about budget disasters and works running months late bore no resemblance to the real build.

What was really freaking Kevin McCloud out was that there were no dramatic pictures of superstructure going up - they were excavating foundations and doing tests of their straw-bales and cement-bag technologies on site, but the owners were pretty relaxed about it all, because they knew they were building an experimental house and they wanted to experiment.

It was Kevin McCloud who was in manic-panic mode, because he had nothing exciting to point a camera at. So it was all "it's a disaster, nothing is happening", right through to the final commercial. Then they added a "we're saved!" coda, shot later, because the steel frame had turned up on site and been erected. The owners: "no, it's fine, we always intended it to arrive about now".

Grand Designs enquired about doing a show on my own build, although it was a bit late by then. I politely told them where to stick their budget.

Never been near the place but I see that outside the Emptirates they have a statue of Herbert Chapman, very nice of them to put a statue of a Spurs legend outside their ground. Entry from Wiki " transferred permanently in 1905 to Tottenham Hotspur for £70. He scored eleven goals for Spurs in their 1905–06 Southern League campaign. " he obviously learnt everything from his time at the Lane

Surely you also have to have the food and drink outlets working, plus all the toilets, and any handrails, staff needed etc etc sorted?
Not sure why you'd need drinks outlets to hold a football match, we could cope without them for a couple of games, that said I'm pretty sure they are ready to go anyway.
Toilets would be nice and again I have no reason to believe they aren't ready, handrails for safety would be a necessity I'll accept but again I have no reason to believe they aren't already installed internally and staff will be available in August, probably in July truth be told.
My reason for the post you quoted was to respond to the people who are convinced it won't be ready based only what they can see from a distance externally and what we can see from a distance externally are the things I listed.

We saw photos of tiling being fitted in toilets at least two months ago. You don't hang tiles unless the first and second fix plumbing are both finished. Same with the kitchens.

I've not seen a single photo of the interior that would suggest to me that the build is more than three months from completion. People are basing their wild predictions on the state of the roof and the cladding. Which is code for "no fucking idea", in either direction.

I reiterate what I wrote at least twice earlier in the thread. You can't judge the progress of a build this complex based on exterior photos. You need to do a tour of the stadium site with a copy of the detailed programme in your hands. Everyone who is opining about whether the stadium will be late or on time is talking through their backside, unless they have reliable inside information originating from Mace.

If we get to a fortnight from the completion date and there are still major operations visibly uncompleted, then we can conclude that the build is running late. But not now, based on exterior photos.

Not sure if I’m correct in this but pretty sure they have to tell PL by May 31st if we can’t start season in stadium and clarify away game situation.

Not gonna lie - If I were a Spurs player, I would be talking non-stop to opponents about how dangerous the seams are in the new pitch. Just give them one more thing to worry about...
You just reminded me, I have what is gonna sound like a dumb shit question and probably is lol.
Pitch sprinklers. When they go back down how are they not dangerously close to the surface without leaving a hole?
Just last night I was watching a PL Review show and there was a close up shot of one that had a tuft of grass on top about 1 or 2" thick at most.

Let the piss taking commence lol.
But seriously.... How? (n)

Fyi. I'm a HVAC engineer lol.
