I think our main rival for events will be London stadium. They seem to be doing a lot of concerts. Clearly in regard to sight lines and facilities we will blow them out the water. LS is already on a tightrope be funny if we took enough of their business to bankrupt them and leave West Ham homeless ? in regard to boxing. The British scene is the busiest it’s probably ever been in terms of big fights. I think there’s plenty that could fill the 60k option. And our closeness to pitch would be so much better for boxing.
I was at the Foo Fighters gig there last night. What we just won't have is the transport hub to get (80,000 last night) fans away really quickly.

Edit - and it wouldn't be restricted to 60K as there is the pitch side attendance.

Not sure it’s been said anywhere on here but it’s being said on site that the first test event (Sunday 5th August) will be Woman’s football.

Can’t wait till they start laying the real pitch. Pretty sure the groundsman said early July. That would tie in with NFL progress and give it enough time to bed in before August 5th. Imagine how excited the ladies must be to actually be the first people to play on the pitch. Although seeing as pre season starts week after next wouldn’t be surprised if Poch has quite a few seasons at the stadium pre the test event.

Yeah transport links are the only thing letting the new stadium down. A real shame the Victoria line isn’t being extended up past the stadium and into Edmonton.

I really hope that's true. Our women's team have been doing fantastically well over the last couple of years and this could be the only chance they'll have in their careers to play for such a large and excited crowd.

I just hope we don't embarrass ourselves with any "tits out for the lads" nonsense.

You shouldn't be embarrassed - gynecomastia is a legitimate medical condition.

Pretty tacky, IMO. Takes away from the field.
I think the way that Kransnodar implemeted the technology was tacky. I don't think the idea itself is tacky though. It depends on where you go with it.

The Rams new stadium in LA is going to be beautiful. They are doing something similar with their video board. It also circles the field, albeit in a completely different way. All for the rock bottom price of $2.6 billion.

I think the World Cup stadium with the LED stuff inside looks very tacky and this is coming from someone who loves technology. I'm all for the outside being lit up and such but I'd prefer something more traditional inside with little modern touches. Much prefer our stadium as it than with such a massive wrap around LED board.

That one that @ravenspurs posted looks incredible though.

It does look spectacular but I still prefer the way our place is shaping up as a place to watch football. Compact and close to the pitch with a proper home end. I hadn't expected so much space to be given over to standing in the South Stand - if/when that comes in I think it will be a fantastic place to watch football.

It's a good opportunity to show off the skill of women's football in front of people whose main interest is to check out the new stadium. Thus a good choice.

This is an excerpt of an interview from 10 years ago (Oct 2008) with DL and a few of the guys on COYS.

Looking back now, it's interesting to see just how much planning and thought has gone into the project, and moreso time. I imagine it must be like raising a child for some at the club:

Dave Brawn (DB): Did you enjoy the game last night?
Daniel Levy (DL): Not good for the blood pressure. It was fantastic to see Tottenham to score 4 goals. It just shows that we've got the players so let's move forward from here.
Ben Harris (BH): If and when we get the new stadium, can we have a large bronze statue of Bill Nicholson and his great team that were the first English club to win a European cup? (crazykeane)
DL: For sure Bill Nicholson will be recognised in some way. Already in our thoughts.
BH: As a fan, I am sure you recognize the atmosphere that The Lane has is special. Has this been considered in regard to the potential new stadium? Many supporters feel a modern bowl will sanitize that to a large extent, and that the name shouldn't be sold off to the highest bidder. As you say there is only one Hotspur out there, can our stadium reflect that uniqueness? (ninja spur)
DL: There are lots of issues. On the question of atmosphere it's something that we've emphasised to the architects. There's always a trade off in a larger stadiums with atmosphere.
BH: I understand there's also a situation with fan proximity in the UEFA regulations.
DL: Regulations and health and safety. Stadiums you build today are vastly different from ones built 10 / 20 years ago, in terms of size of seats and things like that, but we are conscious of the atmosphere and we're doing everything we can to ensure the design we come up with will retain the atmosphere of White Hart Lane.
Donna Cullen (DC): What do people think of the atmosphere at the Emirates?
BH: (laughs) I feel it's not really a football stadium but an exercise in making money with some grass in the middle. And that the way the stands sit back from the pitch disassociates somewhat the fan from the action, rather than being on top of the action to give an intimidating feeling.
DL: (somewhat concerned by my response) It's very difficult to design a stadium with the health and safety and get 60,000 people in it. Health and safety is a major factor that can't be avoided. And last night at the Emirates was a great atmosphere so you could argue it's all about the fans
BH: I think the overall feeling is that we'd like it to be a stadium that's peculiar to our club rather than being straight out of a box.
DL: All I would say is that atmosphere is one of the main requirements laid out to the architects, but it's not easy to resolve.
DB: Have you thought about what affect relegation would have on the plans?
DL: Firstly we're not even thinking about relegation. Second the stadium project takes many years to come to fruition; we've been working on it for 5 years already. It took 4rsen4l 7 years. The new stadium is about generations to come, not just about today.

Makes me wonder if there's going to be a Bill Nic stand, as I've not read anything regarding statues

It's also a good reminder that just ten years ago the idea of Tottenham getting relegated wasn't at all ludicrous. We've come a long way.

I think they were going to put the gates and a statue somewhere prominent, they may have changed their minds over fears of damage/vandalism/wankerism.
Perhaps given the exterior mottos we'll see cast concrete copies or even just steel copies outside and the real ones will be in the experience/museum thing.

I may be talking out of my ring though so don't hold me to it.
