Was always going to be the case really. The roads could barely cope with 36k, not to mention the duty we have to try and discourage driving to games for environmental reasons. It's just a shame the train links aren't great for a lot of people.

Anybody who lives in London knows the chaos caused as soon as any major road is even partially closed, if they are going to close the High Rd for 2 hours to most traffic before say a CL game at 6 in the evening then North London will be grid locked.

Maybe some will turn up even later and leave even earlier than they have been.
Arrive 10min before half time and leave 10min into 2nd half, that should miss the traffic.

Not being pedantic but it says to access rather than access to which doesn't seem much I know but it leads me to believe can't use it as opposed to can't turn onto it.
Either way if it is closed or reduced they must surely have a diversion route in place mustn't they?

Sounds like the road will be closed for that short stretch. I would guess that traffic will be diverted up Lordship Lane and around and maybe down WHL to turn left/vice versa. it can't be totally closed though as people still live in that immediate area.

I got an email off the club about parking in the disabled bays under the stadium, it mentioned you need to be there for 90mins before the event, and won't be allowed to leave till 1hour after

Also depends what they mean by general traffic, assume that to mean through traffic that is going through to Edmonton or beyond or vice versa. Can't see how local residents can be stopped from going home etc so will be interesting to see how it is going to work. Extra 26000 fans on the streets should be fun. Any bets on who the first radio or TV commentator who complains about how hard it is getting to the ground , never understood why they couldn't just get the train to WHL station and walk.

I realise it is probably not on the critical path, but it would be nice to have the sand levelled out in these trays and the grass starting to be installed. A pitch can normally be relaid in a matter of days, but they are taking weeks just to load the sand alone.

Maybe they can't use heavy equipment because of the upturned milk crates under the surface, but relaying a pitch every few years is part of the modern game. They are not going to have weeks if the pitch needs relaying mid-season for some reason. They might not have much time if there is a busy summer schedule on the nfl surface, so this is a good practice opportunity.

We can't see inside the stands and not many of us would understand the importance of what was missing. But we can see the 'pitch' and it is frustrating that progress is so slow.

I would assume its a logistics thing, one tray which was the closest to the loading layby externally of the stadium had the sand in. The other two only a small amount at that end. Which means its entirely possible they couldn't access the trays with the plant required whilst they where they were. No they're all wheeled out they can

Also, bare in mind the buildup probably can't take an 8 wheel lorry hoofing across it to load out the sand, therefore the only option is by small tipper loads which is time consuming. The laying of the turf itself will probably be quite quick, the rolls are laid by tractor.

I doubt they will want to lay the grass too early not with this heatwave

the NFL busy schedule? we are only holding 2 games a year over the next 10yrs unless a franchise is bought/signed or whatever it is when/if it ever arrives, and I do believe it clashes with the PL season

The turf will come in on trays having been grown elsewhere. The trays will just move into place and form the pitch which will move in and out as required.

The pitch trays are the hoofing great big slabs that are partially rolled out, and being filled with sand in the stadium at present, once the subbase of sand is complete, the turf will be rolled out across the top, as per the video that was on the Spurs website a while ago.

Will try and get it confirmed either way but lots of noise between management that the first test event may have to be pushed back / cancelled. Only west lower seating is fit for use and is also the only stand where fire alarm has been commissioned (which you need to hold a test event).

You do wonder why they couldn't use portable klaxons if all the fire alarms aren't working, there'll be other test events to test the finished fire alarms.
