First crane as been moved onto the pitch, looks like a second rig is being made up.

I thought they were going to lay the turf, but perhaps going to grow it instead?

Mate, the pitch is already sorted, ready to go & being 'stored' at the training complex. It just needs to be transported to the stadium, laid & will be ready for use within days. It will be put in place a week before the first event.

Thanks. Thought was the case. I guess they will wheel the lights to one end/put away whilst they lay the pitch.

I wouldn't have a clue about that buddy. I'm actually hoping the club continues the trend & releases a video of the pitch being laid. I'm intrigued to see how it's done.

I lead a very exciting life

I just want to point out that a decent chunk of the overall cost of the stadium is because we decided to turn it into a place that’s supposed to be the eventual home of the London NFL team. We didn’t have to do this at all.

This was a big risk Daniel took, and with Khan (whose Jaguars team is the shoe-in for the eventual London team) about to buy Wembley, it’s looking like one that will not pay off, as there’s no way Khan lets his team play anywhere but Wembley.

Let’s conservatively guess that the cost of incorporating the NFL piece of things was £100M. We get paid £2M per NFL game I think? It’ll take us 50 games to recoup that. That’s a long time, and not guaranteed beyond what 10 years? It hasn’t helped secure a naming rights sponsor (which I’m guessing Daniel thought it would).

We talk about the prohibitive cost of the stadium in reference to the transfer window, but at least 10% of the total cost of it is going toward accommodating someone not related to Tottenham Hotspur and whose relationship hasn’t contributed positively to our club. Hell of a deal for the NFL, a rare gamble by Levy that hasn’t paid off.

I like Daniel but this really annoys me. I know this is probably too linear of thinking but we could have easily not accommodated the NFL for our stadium and used those funds during the transfer window / paid off our stadium earlier / whatever.

This is bollox. The main cost of the NFL was the pitch. And the fact we have a retractable pitch gives us so many other options to generate revenue, even if the Jaguars go to Wembley. Boxing, concerts, and the biggest growth in entertainment; e-sports - there are many other possibilities which other grounds won’t be able to do as easily as we will.

I’m normally the most optimistic. But I just can’t see this being “ready” in 5 weeks for Liverpool. Can a stadium with massive holes in the exterior be passed ready, seems unlikely. Anyways is there a cut off date we have to tell the premier league ? View attachment 40032

Have a look at the os it doesn't even have an exterior to have holes in.

The big one isn't but there is a very small one on the High Road opposite.

Stock choice and quantity is very limited though so you might want to phone a head if you want something specific.

Nice one, I’ll leave it then wait for the big one to open one a few more weeks.

going past WHL Station on the train today I was surprised how unfinished the South Stand area seemed , even my partner who has zero interest in the build commented about how far from ready it looked.

On a serious not do you actually think we could get the safety certificate without the main exterior 100% finished as in all the panels and glazing in, so there’s no actual holes ? I’m pretty sure we can without the veil but have no idea on panels + glazing.

Yes, the glazing and cladding is just a facade, it's not a safety feature. The "holes" people are worrying about around the face of the stadium are immaterial really. If you look at most stadiums, not many have a complete facade, Twickenham is a good example of this. The safety cert will be more about access and egress and the systems ie fire alarms etc, that are in place and commissioned in time.

Im pretty sure that the openings you see in certain areas are deliberate and will remain that way for ventilation. There may well be a rail or something but all these areas wont be accessible to us public and are shut of. They are know as 'engine rooms' or something similar and contain machinery which require ventilation and such so will stay open and hidden behind the veil. Forgive me if im wrong tho.

Exterior wise the panelling and glass is pretty much done except for the south east glazing to be fininshed. Im expecting the covering of the the top if the south stand to start quite soon now and hopefully will be reletively sharp in installation but will almost certainly be the last thing to be completed along with the veil. The veil will pick up pace and i expect their to be 3/4 cherry pickers on the go from here on out. The roof is nearly done (2/3 more weeks tops including the eaves).

Inside the bowl is going at a snails pace........because we can AFFORD to time wise with it. If required we could comlete that in a week to 2 but the stadium interior is needed more right now. Grow lights, seats, dugout, pitch, advertisings are all easy and fast jobs once needed.
The interior is the biggy. This is why the majority of workers are inside. From 3000 workers approx around 2800 are inside. There are areas inside that would make you c**p youself right now because they are very bare and untouched. HOWEVER, with alot of hands you can get through a large area reletively quickly (think diy sos lol). Workers can fit out an area pretty fast and remember most of the concourse remains open with nothing at all. Im certain the areas of concern right now are all premium areas....boxes, 1882 club bars ect because these are the areas of real detail and intricacy.

Yeah, you can see on the plans that all the open bits currently will have nothing but the veil over them. I'd assume the veiling that goes over these parts might be more waterproofed in some way though?

Except the ability to retract our pitch makes the stadium capable of hosting events right throughout the year, including during the football season, which literally no other stadium in the country can do.

We're not limited to two NFL games a season and one or two summer events - we can host pretty much anything at any time - even so far as a PL match on a Saturday and a concert or event on the Sunday.

It's a game-changer in making the stadium a money-making resource all year round, not just for 19 days a year of home matches like every other PL team is limited to.

Have we got a limit on how many non football events we can have?
