Am I the only one that thinks we should draw a line under this stadium business and just announce that we will move in for 19/20 season. That way we can focus on our season without this continuously hanging over our heads and also would ensure the stadium is 100% complete safely and aesthetically.

It was ambitious and the club should be commended for trying to deliver on an ambitious deadline.
Oh God I hope so!

It's quite a good gesture because it's 17-18 Cat B prices. Remember that 1/19th of your ST is nearly as much as a Cat A game last season and way more than a Cat B - ST holders will save a substantial amount of money due to this. Once we're moved in members prices will go up 30-40% to match the ST increase.

I've made money on the Fulham and Liverpool matches and sat in better seats.
Then again, my season ticket last season was £675 and this season £1,200

Is it though?

My season ticket was £775 last year and £975 this year. With a City refund I'll have had £205 back. In my seat last year, two Cat A, one Cat B and one Cat C would be £188, considering I'd have to pay booking fees on top of all these tickets, say £1.50 a game. Spurs have saved me the grand total of about £10-11 and playing in what should be a much inferior stadium, or that's what we were told when they increased prices by around 30-40%

It says it's to give certainty. (CL games)

We'll have fans from abroad travelling for the matches and they're right, it's not fair expecting them to arrange travel and accommodation for a fixture that could change.
Don't see the issue there, it's the same city, not like they'll be staying somewhere planning to get to Tottenham that makes it impossible to get to Wembley.

Probably being over optimistic, but reading that statement it sounds like the stadium could very well be ready in time for the Man City match but the club have lost confidence in the time frames given by Mace and are therefore being more cautious with opening dates.

I'm sure there's tens of thousands of people who either hated Wembley or didn't by a season at all last season, that have bought one this, on the basis of it being at home, that would be piiiiisesd,

From a PR point of view that is one hell of a strong statement from the club. This line reeks of frustration and aggression.

"We are now being regularly updated on progress and as soon as we have confidence in our project managers’ and contractors' ability to deliver against the revised schedule of works, we shall be able to issue dates for test events and the official opening game."

They might book somewhere that's a 10 minute walk from the stadium (either one) and then find they have to go halfway across London on a tube. It's just not on to expect tourists to do that at late notice.

They're waiving booking fees and, if you print at home, there's no additional cost.

Massive public slap in the face for Mace with that statement

That's not the point though, that still only saves around £15.

Part of the concept of buying a season ticket is you get the games at a reduced rate. i.e. my £775 season ticket would have cost £839 if I'd brought each game individually. We've been told the our new stadium will be the best in the world, rightly so, and they've the increased the prices by up to 40%. We're then being forced to buy tickets at general admission prices last year, so effectively getting a worse deal. As season ticket holders we're paying more than last season for what they're telling us is the same product. Making one game a Cat B when it would normally be a Cat A isn't a great gesture as we're ending up worse off

Example being, 4/19 of my season ticket last year was £163.16. They're now making us buy at normal prices which would be £179 (£188 if they left City as a Cat A)

So, looking at the fixtures the next possible PL game for the opening of the stadium is Chelsea on Nov 24th. However, that is before the Inter home game already confirmed for Wembley, plus I’m not sure the club or police wouldn’t be nervous about a 5:30pm game against Chelsea being the first game there.

Which leaves Southampton on the 5th December, but then that’s a night game. Would we want the first game to be where the arrival times of fans are all congested as they tend to be for night games?

I think it’s highly likely if we move into the stadium in 2018 the first game will be the Burnley game on the 15th December.

Wembley isn't ideal but we have a good record there now and we are used to it now. It also gives us certainty. I have a season ticket for this year and I wish our games were at the new stadium, especially the likes of Barca and Inter.

I'll put it another way, yesterday against Watford was moved to their home ground, had we played at Wembley we may have performed better and won. Is it an excuse? No, but it makes a difference playing home and away and having that certainty.

Maybe it's my frustration that is growing and I appreciate a project of this size will encounter slippage in delivery as it has done but it appears to be changing regularly and even now with no certainty or comfort nor assurances.

I read a few things from the statement .

It "could" be ready for City but it's too close to risk - Wembley.
If it "could" be ready for City then it will be ready for Inter but, as with City, the lack of certainty means we've committed to Wembley anyway.
Which means we might play a PL game at home before we play the CL matches at Wembley.

I think Uefa may have put the squeeze on us along the lines of 'ok we've had the draw, you need to make a guaranteed call either way on the PSV and Inter games now'.

And we were not being before? I would have expected this to be honest.

Frustrating as hell but most great projects have their set backs.

Anyone ever talk about the engine issues (exploiding mid flight) on the 747 had during testing amongst problems or even Wembley stadium's year long delay? Hardly anyone, if ever.

The former is the most recognisable aircraft of all time and the latter one of the most famous stadiums in the World.

Certain sell outs at Wembley for at least 2 of the CL matches too.
