You only had to look at the rate of progress over the last 5 weeks to know it was never gonna be ready.

People need to get real.

Nowhere. Near. Ready.

Be prepared for January opener.

Accept it and let's get on with the new season.

Stadium's gonna be amazing. Worth the wait.
Listen to thinky.

It's best that way.

Frustrating as hell but most great projects have their set backs.

Anyone ever talk about the engine issues (exploiding mid flight) on the 747 had during testing amongst problems or even Wembley stadium's year long delay? Hardly anyone, if ever.

The former is the most recognisable aircraft of all time and the latter one of the most famous stadiums in the World.

there's a great documentary about the development of the 747 that talked about that. Pratt and Whitney didnt believe there was really a problem and was doing little to solve it. So, Boeing took an P&W executive on a flight and purposely exploded one engine. The pilot then began to throttle up another engine until the executive relented and agreed there was a serious problem.

Chelsea to be the first game in our new stadium would be insane for loads of reasons.
Firstly do we really want a category A game with a strong chance of disorder to ruin our grand opening.
Do we really want those pricks to potentially beat us on such a special day?
No fucking thanks... We have delayed it and delayed it so a little longer won't hurt..
Hopefully Soton will be the first match.. It makes sense for so many reasons.

Chelsea would definitely be a TV game. I’m sure Sky would want 100% assurance stadium will be ready. So they don’t have to through the City situation again.

Which leaves Southampton on the 5th December, but then that’s a night game. Would we want the first game to be where the arrival times of fans are all congested as they tend to be for night games?
Didn’t Atletico Madrid open their new stadium with a night game last year.

Seem to remember them going big with a light show and fireworks display that looked really good

Question:

If we get thru CL groups and our stadium is ready/being played in for knockouts. Would we be allowed to play there for our games, UEFA rules and all that? Sorry if already been answered. Cheers. COYS

I think it's been covered. There's nothing explicitly in the competition rules forbidding it. We'd need permission, obviously, but there's nothing to say we couldn't play at two different home venues and no reason to think UEFA would be c*nts about it.

It actually says “ many issues” blimey talk about exaggerating the facts.

It actually says “the consequences have been immense” and include “substantial additional costs”.

It also says they currently have no confidence in being able to target a date for the contractors to deliver.

If that’s not fitting the description “many serious issues” I don’t know what is.

Levy even directly says “we are facing many issues” and then describes them as “costly and frustrating”...!

I’m exaggerating absolutely nothing.

Just saw a tweet that made me think. If they announced Wembley for the season would people then expect the remainder of the ST to refunded in a lump sum say 15/19 th ? Could the club even do this or have the funds already been committed ? Which is why they may try to draw this game by game scenario out as long as they can ?

Yes they did against Malaga in La liga.

A friend who is an Atleti supporter said that
the Stadium would never
have been given permission to open in UK
as there were serious construction elements still to do.
Health and safety in Spain much more flexible apparently.
He only went last week for the first time.

Am I right in saying that some turf has started being put in place at the foot of the SS shortside??

If we get through the CL qualifying rounds and get against say Real once more, I bet the temptation would be to still play the match at Wembley. Either for financial reasons are to retain the 'winning run' in the CL there.

I think we must be better off financially playing CL at Wembley. It’s probably around £1.5/2m extra gate money. I can’t believe we are paying Wembley more than £1m a game ?

The figure has been quoted as £2m a game.

Or maybe they would just make us go to wembley and not give us the refund....
