They’re sneaking the pitch in.

A lot of people ITK'd that the pitch was being grown at the training ground. According to the OS, it has been prepared and grown in Holland. Hmmm. Rumours get a life of their own...

Someone said to me "if they're growing the pitch at the training ground I'm a Dutchman", he wasn't but perhaps I should have taken more notice.:)

I think at the rate they're going a lot of the pitch will be down by later today. Certainly half at least.

Is it just me or does in not look particularly green and vibrant? I mean, I guess when layed next to an astroturf surface it'll never look quite the same colour, and maybe it needs time to take hold in the soil and grow out/be cut?

Any gardeners on here have some insight? I don't have a garden :(

It’s probably because it’s been rolled up in a fridge for 48 hours

My thinking is, that if the new turf basically describes the area of the pitch, then it's still quite a distance from the East and West Stands to the edge of it. I understand all the blurb said it would be as close as allowed, but it's quite a way. Mind you I'm in the South which does look closer I guess.

Edit - Actually, looking at it again, the west looks as if it will be the furthest away. I wonder if the East and west will be equidistant or whether that's just perspective/foreshortening?

:p

Just interested more than anything.

Actually, on that note, thanks to all who have contributed with various bits of insight on this thread. As most of this stuff is non football related, I've been a bit of a lurker in here just reading some of the excellent and insightful posts. It's been such a great resource, especially with all the sensationalised nonsense written in the media/on Twitter.

The stadium looks absolutely sensational. I just cannot wait to go and hear the atmosphere.

I'm amazed by how close the fans are to the pitch!

It’s probably really flat as well. I have the fake stuff in my garden and a couple of times a year I give it a brush to get it all standing again. Flat out it looks very faded but standing it’s a more vibrant green.
