I’ve been on this thread about 2 years not 24 hours.

who was you the previous 8 months? as your profile doesn't equal 2 years even if your post count does

the thing is once all the buildings are up, you won't get that view, a view that's not even finished and looks like a very bad picture with a phone or camera that doesn't really pick the real life viewing on most probably a miserable day weatherwise

The stream of the pitch from the south west corner is working again....

Ok this is the last thing I’m saying on this. As said I’ve posted and contributed a lot of stuff from twitter in this thread in the last 18 mnths- 2yrs. Whatever the time frame is, I’m not actually as obsessive over my posts as some other people seem to be. In that time as far as I recollect the only things I’ve been critical about are the north screens which I stand by and that cladding today. The comment about the pitch yesterday wasn’t even a criticism it was just an observation I was surprised. Yet people jump all over it, like I’m posting negative stuff everyday. I’ve paid numerous visits to the stadium, follow the cameras everyday and I am just as passionate about it as anyone else. So basically in 18 months I’ve criticised 2 things about the build and get jumped all over. Anyways I’ve been going to WHL for near on 40 years and I’m looking forward to going again in the very near future.

No doubt this has been answered somewhere already but it's been bothering me so I'll ask anyway. Why is the real grass pitch the retractable, sectioned one on top with the fake grass pitch lying fixed on the ground below? Grass grows in the ground, needs sunshine, knits together as a whole and is more delicate than a big, flexible, synthetic carpet, so shouldn't the carpet be the one rolled out on top? Seems counterintuitive to me.

Nfl pitch needs to be lower to see over the heads of the 40 subs standing on the sidelines. The first lot of rows are closed for nfl games at wembley. Also so you can see down cheerleaders tops.

Because NFL pitch has to be lower because of sight lines. As in loads of people stand round the pitch in NFL.

Seriously? So it's essentially an NFL stadium that can be adapted for football when required. Surely the NFL hangers-on could all just sit on the front row of seats, or they could have a trench to stand in. Can't see the sections of grass all slotting together seamlessly. Has it been done before?

No it hasn’t been done before. However it’s been tested at training ground and seemed fine. There’s a video on YouTube been posted numerous times.

You absolutely cannot use lifts if an evacuation is needed. If you aren't able to take the stairs, there should be a marked safe location - normally on a landing on a stairwell - which should be safe for a period of time (often 30 minutes) in the event of a fire, from where you'll be evacuated (normally carried out, potentially on a stretcher or what have you) by a member of staff or the fire brigade.

Even though the absence of lifts therefore shouldn't effect the ability to evacuate in an emergency, I think the PR of having to tell most mobility-impaired fans they weren't able to go to the first game even if they had season tickets would be pretty disastrous, I just can't see us doing that.

Lifts can be used in a fire in certain circumstances

I have a recollection that all lifts in large premises with public access are supposed to return automatically to the ground floor when there is an alarm. That would require functioning software and a link into the alarm system.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else?
They do indeed

I sooo enjoy this thread. Been lurking on and off for ages.
It kinda proves the old saying about 5 people having an argument in an red phone box or whatever.
The lovely rat-a-tat-tat of opinions, information, fake news and banter about a topic that (presumably) is something we all actually want to be amazing is what makes SC what it is; the best place to hang out for contrasting views from people who have little in common except their love for a football club.

Do they have all of the grass at the stadium?
There should be 3 delivers, I just assumed that would be 1 a day.

Would be great if they can get it all down tonight.

I can understand why it’s being laid now. They’ve no idea how the grass is going to react to the stadium or the sliding pitch. They will be laying it ahead of time to check it out and see if it’s ok. If not then they will have given themselves a chance to rip it and relay it and try again. Although I really hope that doesn’t happen. We’ve had enough bad publicity.
There are things to worry about, but laying pitches is pretty established these days - these guys are cracking on as they probably lay one every other week.
It will look very green and grassy in a week and maybe that will calm people down a bit. It is a major mile stone for fans, without a doubt, even if it is not on the critical path.

When the pitch is put under stress with a full season's programme plus it is routinely put in the garage for a week or so, then we'll see how it copes with life at NWHL. That is an unknown, and it might take a few years of tinkering, but no-one should lose sleep over that right now.
