The old WHL held functions and events there. So certainly part of the planning will be to incorporate as much non football related business as possible. It’s quite conceivable that the council could even use it for prestigious presentations etc. In addition it’s of course going to be the talk of the football world for a while so I can imagine there will be opportunities to benefit from all this.

Oh yeah will definitely hold weddings and bar mitzvah’s etc. And have seen some shots of the conference facilities that are huge. I’m just wondering whether any of the restaurants will just be open on a daily basis to just book for a night out or lunch.

I think you’re actually talking about the sky bar. Which is basically the hanging gantry under the north roof. The sky lounges run the length of east/west right at the top just under the roof and are part of corporate package. Last I saw there were 10% or just under still unsold. Those may now have been sold. Will some corporate tickets become available for less glamorous games, I’ve no idea. But yeah basically you need a corporate ticket to use the sky lounge. I’d imagine the sky bar may be the same. Although the fact we have a Michelin star restaurant you might think some of the restaurants may be open independently of a match day.

You're probably right, many of us have got the Skybar and Sky lounge mixed up at some point, although one of them is now called "Stratus" I think and until they pay us I'd be surprised if the Sky bar name hangs around post opening TBH.

I’m pretty certain you can still do one off hospitality packages like in the old stadium as I’ve read some literature on it. I have emailed the club about them in recent months but had nothing back from the sales team. So I’m assuming they are either rubbish at their job or they haven’t sorted the actual packages yet.

Are those rails at the side a permanent fixture?

Just i saw the light rigs being rolled out earlier, and it just seems that the rails are covered by the artificial turf/cloth on the edge of the pitch, seemed very easy for the guy just to pull it back, so wondering how they are going to stop it rolling back when players slide across the touchline? seems very close to the playing surface.

It's the same for the rails that the pitch slides on, no idea how the astro is fixed down though, pritt stick?

An account of someone's visit to the Stadium today, taken from Skyscraper City

"I spent a couple of hours this morning having a tour of the stadium and all I can say is...wow! I know it's a cliché and I know other's have said it, but the pictures really don't do it justice. They have managed to make the stadium bowl feel like a vast intimidating colosseum yet tight and intimate with the pitch at the same time. Even from right at the top of the south stand you don't feel far from the goal at all. And speaking of being at the top of the south stand - those screens are massive. I mean - really huge.

Many of the internal areas I saw were finished albeit wrapped in protective coverings. Some of the food and drink serving areas on the GA concourse in the north and west look ready for business - the fridges are stocked, the screens are displaying menus and prices and the card machines are powered up to take payment. The west stand premium dining areas are at the fit out stage and the finishes, textures, materials and furniture look very high quality indeed. The equivalent areas in the east stand are not as advanced I would describe more at the "construction" stage still with floors being screeded and fitted in some areas and the bars being constructed.

For those familiar with Club Wembley I would say the GA areas have the same sort of vibe about them. I know everything is new so it's bound to look smart but you really do get the feeling that everything around you is exuding quality and trying to be that step up from a run of the mill experience. You have to pinch yourself to remember you are in a football stadium. The premium areas are obviously a step up again with a more "hotel" vibe and I can well imagine they are going to be an excellent place to entertain clients and friends on match days.

There are loads of people on site but it's clear that they are focusing on getting specific areas finished - areas which matter for the first game. For example I walked in to the home NFL dressing room - which is huge! - and is at second fix stage with all the players "seating unit/cubby hole things" in place just needing the furniture finishing and switch plates installed, but there's not a soul working in there.

I walked from the NFL dressing room through the NFL tunnel club and saw the tunnel which was fascinating because of course the roof is sloping down to the floor as the stadium is in football mode so the NFL tunnel has a raker with seating over it. But there is about 2 foot of daylight at the bottom of the raker and you can see the pitch mechanism through it."

Question for one of our horticulturists - I did not see a sprinkler system installed in the sand before the pitch was rolled out. I assume the tray system made that impractical. But, how do you effectively water the pitch evenly now that it has been installed?

I assume there are some drainage pipes installed in the trays to ensure that any moisture does not simply sit at the bottom, but also prevents any moisture from leaking onto the NFL pitch below.

I'm sure there is a sprinkler system already installed and used a few times.

Have only seen claims of it, never caught them in use on the cams

Not sure if there is a sprinkler system installed, but i did see 2 sprinklers in action to dampen the sand prior to the grass going in.

And the lighting rig also has a sprinkler system in it apparently.

Maybe - but I watched (too much) of them putting the sand/soil in, and then rolling out the pitch. I don't recall seeing a sprinkler system in place - which would have to be punched through the pitch, or been designed amazingly accurately to hit only the seams.

And here's one of the vids he shot ( I can see where my seat will be under the SE screen)

Perhaps they will water the grass from the bottom upwards, a bit like the system for pouring the new pints in the bar....

I was thinking that was possible - but could not recall how deep the trays were - if they are too deep, I don't think the water would get to the roots.

That's correct, sprinklers are installed in the pitch I've seen them in use.

Well there was definitely sprinklers watering the sand. And as someone said the lighting rig has sprinklers as well.

There is a sprinkler system in the trays. Strangely, I've never seen the entire field going at once, the field is always being watered in sections.
