What happened to the theory or belief that If we played our game v Burnley at Wembley then we would be committed to playing all Prem games there until the end of the season?

Does anyone actually know what the flying fuck is going on. NO

Whisper after whisper after whisper after twitter from builder after twitter from ex player after building expert on Skyscraper blah blah blah blah biggest friggin shop in the universe/galaxy/europe opening last July bollox

I miss the transfer thread/itk/deadline/papertalk window. It was far more accurate!!

So because Burnley hasn't been selected for TV we aren't moving in until next year o_O

Do we really think that we will postpone any opening (and all the shit involved in relocating matches with fans refunds etc) because we need the first game to be televised?

Can't see it personally, as soon as it's ready we will play irrespective of which cameras are there or not as the case may be (IMO)

If sky miss out who gives a fuck.

Match of the Day would milk it for all it's worth. and lord over sky (probably be match choice in the evening too)
And loads of foreign Networks would pick it up.

No one knows but I don’t understand why everyone is so convinced the first game at the new stadium HAS to be televised!
I’m sure of one thing, Levy will want us playing there as soon as possible, TV or no TV

This. In fact I think it’s more likely that he would prefer the first televised game to be at a stage where all the veil and exterior lighting effects etc are more or less completed. It will have a much greater impact.

Hasn't it been said somewhere that if we don't leave Wembley by end of December that we then have to pay for a full season whether we use it or not?
And that was also a driver on the 15/12 date vs Burnley?

Yeah do vaguely remember that. A cut off was definitely mentioned. You may also have issues with other events as our program is now loaded with home games after Xmas. They won’t want another situation like city.

From weretheshelfside on Skyscrapercity re the direction of Cockerell in response to an email to D Cullen:

Cockerel orientation confirmed by Spurs and my 'left flank facing the playing surface' theory is now up in row Z

The PR manager just emailed me the response below. No real surprise (as FIFA game showed this, and I'm certain they wouldn't have unless sanctioned by the club).

"Your below email has been passed onto me and thank you for enquiring on this subject as it is extremely important to us that we are recognising our heritage throughout our new stadium in the correct way, and as such appreciate any input from our supporters.
Indeed, the original Cockerel that sat on top of the East Stand at White Hart Lane traditionally faced North – therefore, we have ensured that our new scaled-up replica of the original, that will sit on top of the South Stand, also faces North as you have seen in the FIFA game.
Interestingly, when the original Cockerel on the East Stand was replaced during the late 80s/early 90s, it was initially positioned facing the other way towards central London but was soon reverted back to the direction in which it originally faced.
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
"

Yes, Donna. When are you planning to open the fucking thing?

Cheers,

Everyone

I think some people are missing the point that in literally every country around the world (apart from the UK) you can watch every single Premier League game.

IMO if it’s ready for Burnley we’ll be playing there.

No way is Levy going to fork out for playing at Wembley if our new ground is ready and waiting, he will want the new ground generating money as soon as possible and it’s not going to do that until our first game there.

Looking at the previously scheduled opening games that didn't happen it was Liverpool, City, and now Chelsea.
I don't believe in these kind of coincidences where Levy is concerned so I would imagine he wants to open with a top six opponent with maximum worldwide exposure.
So, if we can't make the Chelsea deadline I would suspect the next big game, in this case United, to be the first.

if the club had announced the stadium was definitely ready to be open by the 15th against Burnley it would of been on the box, but as no announcement has been made, and the TV schedule was decided today then it's not been selected because it's not a standout game for the TV companies.

1 thing I have noticed though in November we have 2 x 17:30 KO's and a Saturday 19:45, and in December we have another Saturday 19:45

With the globalization of the Prem I can see them still doing Burnley. Most certainly would be televised in the States, etc.

I know, why don't we wait until we play Manchester United or ooh ooh wait, I know, let's wait until we play Arsenal that would be televised. Or maybe we should do something like oh I don't know, maybe we should just play the first game as soon as we are ready, that would make more sense than any of the crazy ideas being banded about. Next we'll have someone come up with the theory that we could have made the start of the season but Levy didn't want it to be Fulham ffs.

Pretty obvious why sky didn’t choose Burnley. It’s Liverpool Vs Man U that weekend. They wouldn’t want us to upstage them lol.

In my opinion there is absolutely no chance you spend a billion quid on a state of the art stadium and not have the first game there televised for the whole world to see. They’ll want the pundits there for pre game stuff, cameras showing it off for hours.

The first game there will either be some insane turnaround and it being Chelsea or it’ll be Man Utd. They’ll choose to delay it even if ready (what’s another month at Wembley for them) to be able to show it off in all its brand new glory on its opening day, rather than showing it off what after it’s already hosted 3 games. I’ve accepted I ain’t getting to sit in my new seat for another 3 months.

What's another month at Wembley? A lot of fucking money. Levy won't delay any longer than he has to.

The extra three games will pay for themselves through ticket sales, won’t profit from it but in terms of exposure they’ll feel its worth waiting for the Utd TV game.
If it’s announced it’s Utd first game I think you can safely say it could’ve been earlier as it’s way too convenient.

Remember that just because Sky haven't selected our game doesn't mean the world can't watch it - international TV can and would pick up our 3pm Saturday against Burnley were it to be the opener. Is Levy that bothered about the UK market seeing it live? I doubt it. And in any case they could probably shuffle it around and add it to the schedule - they already messed around when our game against City was moved to Monday night.
